So currently I have an older Ocean Kayak prowler 13, I like it but I would like a much much more comfortable seat. So I have been shopping around for a nice fishing yak with stadium style seat. I mostly fish in large reservoirs and the out in the Monterey bay/ pacific grove area no more than one mile from shore. I am 5’11 and 200lbs so not huge but not tiny, My prowler right now is rather wobbly side to side and would like something that might let me maneuver around without going for a drink. So far I have found these, something under $2k or close would be nice and anyone with feedback would be great Also interested in any other options

Eddy line c-135. May be priced above your goal I'm not sure, but worth a look of that I am sure. Bad ass kayak!

If you are looking at something for Salt and Fresh, I would look at the Kraken 13.5 or the ATAK is pretty awesome too.. However, these are super heavy yaks, so the mention of Eddyline is pretty awesome as it is super light weight.

I love my Malibu Stealth and XFactor they track perfect, they are both so stable that Lake fishing as well as Ocean (of course depending on swell) you can fully stand up and sight fish with these. They are also in the OK Prowler Big Game II price point but do not come with the comfy lawn chair style seat. They however are @ 20lbs lighter then the JK and WS kayaks you mentioned..

Have you looked into the Thresher 140? A little cheaper then the ATAK and very stable as well!

Test paddle and see which is less wobblly than what you have.
Check dimensions on line for all. Widest + most stable
BUT YOU STILL NEED TO PADDLE THEM

The Yak attack Edition looks amazing! I am definitely going to need to take a closer look at this one, I saw it at a shop in Lodi but was busy drooling over the Jacksons!

Hmm unless they are just using blank hull weight they seem pretty close. The Malibu Stealth and Xfactor looks great but I am really looking forward to a Lawn chair style Seat =)

 Eddyline is 69lbs
Atak is 86lbs with seat
Ok big game II is 70
Kraken 13.5 is 72lbs
Cuda 14 is 72lbs
Now my Old OK Prowler 13 is 60lbs, much lighter than all of these

Test paddle and see which is less wobblly than what you have.

Not sure of your location, but where would you recommend to demo these? I’m in a little town called Los Banos, I’m willing to drive a ways to trying something before I buy for sure!

Widest does not always mean stable. I have seen a couple wide kayaks where stability sucks in the ocean.

The thresher is 75, but does not have the seat you are looking for, but is comfy. Also look into the new Tarpon 130x. 13' with the seat you are looking for. 72 lbs. Handles the ocean pretty well too. addles nice. If you will be in rough ocean water I would steer away from the ATAK. Will be a wet deck due to the low free board, but some guys on the east coast are using them there in salt. On fresh water it is super comfy and stable.

I would get the Kraken over the Cuda due to it paddling better, and is more stable.

TEST PADDLE WHATEVER YOU ARE CONSIDERING!!!!!!!!!!!    If you want to try any of the Wildy's and can't find demo's maybe we can hook up depending on where you live.

I hope you have tested the seating. I too thought that the stadium style seat was more comfortable at first but wheni tried it out, i was torn between the kraken, or thresher.  The thresher does not have a "stadium" style seat, but it felt more comfortable, for me at least.  So stadium seat does not necessarily mean comfort.  I have not tried the wilderness systems version of the seat on the atak, or 130x, but i wasn't interested in the styles and features of those boats.

You can always try going to the dark side. Test drive the hobies with the new seats. I heard they are super comfy.

Hey oosickness - CCK will be having their annual Paddlefest on 6/4 at Lake Natoma near Sacramento.  This is an opportunity to test drive Hobies, Jacksons and Wilderness System models side-by-side.  In past years the cost was $15 and you have access to test all models all day long.  There will be fishing pro-staff for the different manufacturers available to discuss the different models.  It's a fun day and great chance to be able to compare a bunch of kayaks.  Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.  Good luck with your search.

Looks at the new offering coming down the line from Santa Cruze kayaks. Search for forum member baitman for the latest details.
I took a looks and they are a bit different, i'll definitely look at one in person next time i'm up there

I really like the Kraken 13.5 elite! very nice boat with the cool Kraken decals!
I live in Los Banos so im kind of away from everyone except  LBSteve

I would like a hobie, but damn they are big and heavy and expensive! I hope i can find the seats comfortable, if not my ass in in trouble!

Ever check out Nucanoe?  I have the frontier 12, but the pursuit might suit your needs for a stadium style seat.  Super stable.

you already own what you need......the P-13 will get it done. the new yaks are heavier than the P13 is. The wobble you are feeling is normal. You really gotta be unbalanced to go into the drink.
once again, you have what you need...upgrade that seat to a nice highback a good air-cushion for you ass and you'll be fishing ALL DAY!

True Adam. P 13 is a great kayak. Paddles very well and is a fishing machine. There are a few nice seats out there that I think are nice and comfy.

Regarding your no more than 1 mile from shore comment, that really means nothing at all. 100yds or 5 miles really does not matter. Ocean is ocean and conditions can turn to shit no matter how far out you are. In fact, some places we fish the further off shore you are the better.

Another question. How long have you been paddling? All kayaks have side to side movement, all of them. You just learn how to deal with it. The difference is where does it stop. Secondary stability is important. I know one wide kayak that has almost zero secondary stability. I heave seen and heard of several people go in the water off of this one kayak, and it is supposed to be very stable. Actually I think more swam off of it in the last few years than any other model I know of, and it has a lawn chair seat too.

I do like the yak, any good seat recommendations?

I have only a year on the yak, numerous trips to lakes, reservoirs and saltwater around Monterrey and Carmel. I wouldn't say i'm experienced by any stretch.
