Anyone launch here? I was there the other day and checked it out as a possible launching spot. Free parking is available and not too far from the beach. It looks like carrying the kayak would be needed down the stairs and over the debris, but that might change over time.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

I fish and launch right across the strait.  Right next to that big blue building in one of your pics.

Never launched there before, I always launch at 9th street in Benicia.  Nice beach there but can get crowded on weekends.  Might check glen cove out next time I'm over there.

I'd like to check out the area for stripers, salmon and sturgeon.

Wow!  There is a park there now?

I've never launched there, just fished from that shoreline as a kid.  I do know from fishing that area in a boat, wind and current could be a concern causing some nasty waves.  I agree with the other guys, it's much easier to launch in Benicia that way if the winds kick up they will blow you back toward the launch.

I'd love to see a detailed write up for launching at 9th street. I'd like to try the general area.

Maybe you can add a topic for 3rd and H. I'm sure lots of people would benefit to have more info on this part of the forum.

My brother owns a house on West K St.  I've launched from there a couple of times.
As  Bret said, the wind, waves, and current in the area around Glen Cove can combine to make for nasty conditions.  I was out there in a 14' aluminum boat with a 25 hp outboard and it got scary real quick.
"Pedo Viejo" is what Antonio called me.

That is a good fishing area  :smt006  two hrs incoming or two hrs outgoing tide. You can catch stripers, sturgeon and sometimes halibut out there. I used to fish there a lot in 90's :smt006 :smt003

I guess i always thought the currents would be too strong in that area for kayaks. Are certain tide situations better for paddling?

I've used my beach wheels to get my outback down to the beach at he glen cove waterfront park. I've only gone for the salmon, which can be interesting when the area is packed with bank anglers. Easy enough launch though (provided you have wheels)
