My daughter and I are planning a long weekend camping trip along the Sac in Rio Vista for Veterens Day weekend. I have a few questions.
1) Is the current running through the Sac & ship channel bad?
2) How bad is the paddle over to the ship channel?
3) I went across the ferry today to look for launch spots along the ship channel and did not see any that were a easy portage. Did I miss them?
4) Any body in the area like to show us the ropes? We are new to the area, but it new to kayak fishing.
5) Best place to pick up some Silvertron Spinners around Sac?
6) bait and lure suggestions for salmon and strippers?
Thanx
Keith

I think the ferry is one of the spots to launch closest to the deep water channel. What are you fishing for in the deep water channel? I've never heard good things about the fishing there.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan

I thought that was the spot for stripers and salmon. Am I wrong? I was checking out the campground on the Sac just north of Rio Vista today and boats were bringing in salmon.

Vieras would be a good spot to camp, launch and buy Silvertrons.

Deep water channel or the river?

I can use advice on both.

Ko-ket is nice camp spot and easy launch right into salmon water. Current doesn't rip there so paddling is easy. The current rips in rio vista near the ferry. Along river rd there a a couple spots for easy launching. But the current rips by there too!

Vierras or Isleton boat ramp.

Vierras usually has Silvertrons.

Current at Vieras or Isleton is dependent on the tide but not as difficult as Sac River-Rio Vista.

I was in Isleton a couple weeks ago, what used to be the public launch was sold to a private party and is no longer available to the public, as per the LEO parked on the levy.
