Last night (1/28) at 9:54 pm my wife gave birth to Carson Emmanuel Kunz.  Not wanting to let his Dad down, he weighed in at the trophy weight of 10 lbs even and measured 21.5 inches.  Fortunately he fell within the legal slot size so we could add him to our livewell... also known as the nursery.

Mom and baby are doing fine... there was some stress that caused him to be born by C-section and he had a little too much fluid in his lungs.  He is also fighting off an infection as is Mom.  He will be in the intensive care nursery for about a week so that they can run a full course of antibiotics.  I'm confident that both Mom and Baby will be just fine.

Here's the money shot...

We appreciate your prayers for baby and family and praise God for bringing us this incredible blessing.

He really is going to be 8' tall.   :smt003

Hope you didn't have to wait too long before they went with the c-section.

Wow a 10lber !  Thats a big boy.  My daughter and her mom had an extended stay at the hospital as well,  Aside from having to stomach the hospital food both were fine.  Hope all goes well, congratulations.

Erik,
Congratulations to you and your wife.  I'm so happy for you both.

Carson is lucky to have a dad that will teach him so much, and like wise you and your wife will learn so much from him.

Take care,
Stuart

Thanks for all of the well wishes... we appreciate it.

Baby is now off of the breathing equipment but still on an IV for antibiotics.  Mom is starting to be able to get up and around a bit.  This will be a long week and I'm sure we'll be very relieved once we're cut loose to come home.

It's funny... Carson is over twice the size of some of the little premature babies in the nursery and he's got the biggest footprint in the whole nursery ward... like a St. Bernard puppy... big paws = big dog.   He didn't fit the newborn diapers... went right to size 1... and they had to cut slits in his hat in order to squeeze it onto his head.  This is going to be interesting.

Hi Erik,

Great job.  But, I still remember the happiest day was when my kids were out of diapers!!! You have  a long way before that happens.
