Ok show Saturday, fish/crab Sunday.

I am game for a carpool from San Jose if anyone else is. I can take 3 more people in my jeep but it is a little cramped.

I can't do two days this weekend, so I guess I'll skip the show and go crabbing on sun.  If someone could pick up 1 FBR for me I'll happilly pay them back.  They seem like they'd be the perfect trooching setup and I'd like to examine one, maybe bill and I can figure out how to cast our own.   :smt003

Sat forecast is W swell 5-7ft.  That's kind of stiff for linda mar, so maybe we should do HMB.   We could maybe surf off the point of the north jetty for fun while they soak, or pokepole, or whatnot.

FBRs are for salmon.  The coastside folks swear by them, but I didn't catch anything with mine.

Basically it is a plastic harness for a anchovy with fins for rotation.  Looks similiar to a krippled anchovy but with fins.

It's just an inobtrusive harness.  It's made for trolling, so if you paddle around slowly with it and get stopped by DFG they'll be more likely to accept that you're trolling and can use a J hook.

Bill,

It is named after Bob Franko.  He is a biggie on the Coastside board.  I think he started it.  He fish HMB and has his boat there.

I have tried  it a few times and still have not gotten a salmon on it.  I was in a boat.

The only thing it has going for it.  Is that it is easier to put the anchoy on the harness, than the Rotary Killer.  They do have a fixture that makes the Rotary Killer easier.

I know a lot of people have gotten fish on both styles.  Rotary has been out longer.

What time should we meet at HMB?  I take it we'll be parking in the lot of California Canoe & Kayak in the harbor?

What channel will you guys be on.  I'm trying to get out of the prior engagements and if I can swing it I probably won't be out till around noon.

I'll be on channel 408-712-5405  :smt003

Generally I just run out the jaws and drop them past the jetty in an area the powerboats don't drive through.  There's almost no traffic between the harbor mouth and the shore, so usually it's about 200 yards east of the harbor entrance, but way out of range of the guys casting snares along the jetty.

I'll probably bring my tandem, the thing is a barge so you'll have to wait up for me.  I look like a container ship with all my traps aboard.   :smt002

No consensus on the time, so I'll shoot for getting there around 10am.
