Ken,
Do they still have the Boat & RV show?

I hadn't heard of the Fred Hall show up until last year.  I assumed the Fred Hall show was the defunct Boat and RV show.

Can't do the Freddie show this weekend, I'm busy and broke.  Going would only cause heart ache and a lot of drooling over the cool stuff.

I am in for sure. Josh had a good idea for crabs in HMB. It may be a bit crazy but I am thinking we could drop the traps early, head to the show, then come back and fish the harbor for some perch and pull the traps. I don't know if I will be able to do it but if anyone else is game you might be able to convince me.  :smt056

So I assume they sell stuff at the show? Should I bring cash or do they take credit cards?

Bill,
Never been to Fred Hall, but have gone to several ISE shows.  Unless you arevery disciplined, do yourself a favor, and leave the credit card home.

I was thinking to crab until early afternoon and then hit the show, but I suppose you could do it either way.  Don't need much junk on the yak to drop the pots, just a life jacket and a paddle...

When I crab I like to use a couple hoop nets to scout around and move the traps occasionaly when I find a hot area with the hoops.  That's a lot of work though...

Here's the HMB forecast from wunderground:
Sat
Se winds 5 to 15 kt. Wind waves 1 to 3 ft. NW swell 3 to 5 ft.

That's as good as it gets folks, let's not waste it.

Think I'll pass on the crabbing at HMB this Saturday. I plan on getting to the show early (to get good parking). There's just so much to see at the show - I plan on spending the entire day there.

Anyone want to carpool from the San Mateo / San Jose side? The show opens at 10AM.

John - how about filling the suburban full of kayak fishing representatives. We can all split the cost of gas and parking. Watcha think?

I'd be game for a little HMB Crab and boat show.  11:00 sounds a little late though Bill.

I'm out of commission for this one.  I'm up in Seattle this week and will be here at least half time from here on out.  I'm sitting here dreaming about spring in Seattle and the fun I'm going to have trying to figure out kayak fishing up here.

My next California hookup is likely to be Feb 5-6 on the Russian.

With the ocean so tame we might want to consider linda mar as well.  HMB gets lots of pressure and traffic, but we'd probably have linda mar to ourselves.

We could maybe carpool from crabbing to the show and back.

Bill.....it's HEEEEUGE!  I can crab on Sunday (or even fish - Forebay stripers).

I go to both shows (Cow Palace & San Mateo) every year - I think of it as my very own "DisneyLand"  :smt041
