For those of you that deploy Shark Shield from your kayak;

- do you use one of  the forward scupper holes so you can retract the stinger when beaching?

- or do you just run it out one of the rear holes and trust that it clears when beaching?

I could see using a forward scupper hole  and retracting the stinger, but what about getting a line tangled around it when landing a fish?

On my Hobie, there's a scupper just behind the seat, and that's where I deploy it. I've hooked it a couple times, but very, very rarely.
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

I put it in my rear scupper for one of my yak, free range and threw it overboard after securing it on my other yak.  On both yak, I pulled them up when before landing.  Tangling is always a potential, especially if you mooch for a rock fish.  On a troll, usually tangling is not an issue as I can troll and steer the line away from the electrodes.

I had it tethered, and turned off on launch and landing. Once launched, I'd deploy it through a scupper just forward of the seat in my T140.

I turn it off and then pull it in for surf landing so that:
1. it doesn't get damaged and
2. if you have it activated and land on the beach, the wet sand around the kayak and the wet kayak itself will be electrified and you'll end up doing the "shark shield dance" between pulses to turn it off.

Rear scupper on my hobie or hang it over on a small piece of rope so it is totally submerged.  If I am not peddling I leave it on my ankle so if a shark throws me I will not be separated from the shark shield.
