General Talk / Re: How far do you guys paddle?
« on: June 10, 2020, 11:00:07 PM »
In the salt, Be aware of your surroundings, environmental factors and location. At six miles out, wind and current/drip can bring you farther than you thought from your launch area and If even just a light fog creeps in between you and the shore you might not find it in the way back unless you’re familiar with the landmarks or proficient in electronics navigation. Plan ahead of your trip. Weather, tides, swells and specially wind and current directions. Be safe!

General Fishing Tips / Re: Anyone ever go for the evening bite?
« on: June 11, 2019, 11:52:19 PM »
I used to fish stripers at night along Benicia shores. Seems the bigger fish comes closer to the banks for some midnight snacks. There’s still lots of night fishermen along Benicia shore at night, few comes from the southbay. It’s not my kind of fishing anymore but sometimes I still go chat with old buddies while they wait for the bite!

Welcome bro! While waiting for your accessories I recommend you to hit the nearby lake and familiarize yourself of your new ride, make necessary adjustments and Learn self rescue. Doing all these now will give you more time Fishing when you’re out there in the big deep blue! Good luck, see you OTW!

I fish Benicia shoreline for stripers a lot (even at night before)! Not too much on salmon, never had luck! After buying my first kayak I seldom visit my spots anymore. I'm more to yaking the ocean now...more fun! Guess I see you in the water one of these days...I do troll Benicia waters sometimes! Welcome !

I have two Penns, ...old and new. I prefer using the older one now that I change the handle. It used to have tiny crank handle

General Fishing Tips / Re: Good catfish spots?
« on: April 19, 2017, 12:44:42 AM »
Thanks for the service brother! I feel your sentiment about our past Cmdr-in Chief. I felt the same way when I served from Bush to Clinton. Anyways yes Clear Lake is the place for quality catfish and crappies. There's a launch site at the south end by the SRA campsite. Good luck, see you on the water someday.
