I have a practical question.

For those who are far enough away and have to spend the night in Monterey, where do you put your Kayak while your spending the night at a hotel?

Do you somehow lock it to your roof rack?  Drag it inside the room?

You can do those 2 options or let me know an you can store it in the yard here at the shop over night. No cost to NCKA members. Just let me know ahead of time

Or if you want to camp at the Veterans Memorial campsite, which is less than 10 minutes from MBK, you can for around $40/night. It's a walk-in first come first serve place.

Another option is Sunset Park in Watsonville for camping. It is a huge campground and you can reserve online. 30 min drive or so to the derby location. Not many camping options in Monterey but will hopefully be breaking ground on the Fort Ord Campground soon next to the ocean

Yes I am aware just making sure people know where they have options to stay when coming in for the derby. Thanks for the heads up though

While I'm not a hook and liner, I love seeing everyone come together. Stoked to see you all at the derby. Thank you for organizing this, Adam.

I use a python cable through a scupper hole and around the rack. If it's particularly sketchy area, I'll leave my window cracked and run the cable through my steering wheel too.
