MBK Monterey Bay Kayaks 3rd Annual Fishing Derby 8/15 UPDATED!!!!

Look up Veterans campground in Monterey - it's only about 10 minutes away from MBK....it's on a first come first serve basis (no reservations)

Here is a list of campgrounds that are (sorta) between Monterey and Davenport:
Sunset SB campground
Manresa SB campground
Seacliff SB campground
New Brighton SB campground
Henry Cowell Redwoods SP campground
Big Basin Redwoods SP campground
Portola Redwoods SP campground

I just checked reserveamerica.com and Sunset has 1 site available for Friday night. M/b able to reserve that site, then nab a first-come first-serve site for Sat night?
Also just noticed the group site at Fremont Peak state park (above Salinas) is available @ 75/night. But that's like an hour away due to narrow winding roads.

Almost forgot about Mt Madonna county park above Watsonville. They have sites available too. It's sorta in between MBK and Davenport...sorta.

Bad is the Concours is scheduled for this weekend, half the MBK parking lot (owned by the City) is already cordoned off, just like last year.  Good news is the cops are lax ....

what is concours????

On Tuesday, August 11, Carmel-by-the-Sea's Ocean Avenue and adjacent streets become a pedestrian gallery lined with museum-quality automobiles. This free, juried event with over 175 cars on display takes over 16 blocks of Carmel.

hate to see the fire up in santa cruz but it did present openings to camp sites..

I just booked into Henry Cowell camp ground..it is near the Hwy 17 / 1 split in santa cruz..

Yeah, its jellyfish city right now! Never seen so many in my life. They're attracted to high nitrate levels, I hear. It might screw up the fishing.
