Should I buy this?  I just sold the only single I had on craigs.  So I have only my mirage tandem.

Am tempted cuz I need a boat, but there's been so much written already about how the FnD is a bear to paddle.

I'm a big fan of this kayak...yes, it's big and slow but the comfort, storage and stability of this particular kayak is un-matched - In my opinion at least  :smt002 I bought Fred's FND (after he switched to a P15) and I paddled the FND around Half Moon Bay and felt invincible despite horrible fishing conditions - it was harder to paddle but using it for near-shore fisheries (or even crabbing) like rock fish and Halibut = it's the bom  :smt023 :smt023  :smt023 I ended up selling it to Brian G and I regret it  :smt011 (I had to sell it because of storage issues - had too many yaks at the time)

Test ride it first if you can and BUY IT  :smt079 if it suites your needs :smt002

One thing I must say about the FND is that if you can paddle this kayak and go the distance, you can paddle ANY kayak in the market  :smt002

I'd have to agree with Mooch on this one. The FnD is a great boat. I miss the deck and BIG center hatch. I remember paddling that beast from Davenport up to Scotts Creek... not too much fun. But, I'll go anywhere there's fish. I guess it wasn't too bad though. When I got tired, I just basically laid out on the deck and fell asleep. It's that stable. It's pretty much a log on the water. Not counting getting pounded in the surf... I never fell out of it. If you are worried about stability issues, this yak is as stable as they come. If you are going to be out on the ocean trolling or paddling for long distances or plan on making a lot of surf entries... you may want to pass... unless, you are a paddling machine. That's just my 2 cents... hope it helps some.

I love it too.  Of course it seems tiny compared to my other boat (a triple) :)

I'm not in a race and I love the stability.
