EDIT: After doing more research I've found several threads already about this on the forum. Won't let me remove the post though.

Hey Guys,
I'm currently in the market for a kayak and found that it the outback may be a good option for me. I'm just trying to get a few pros/cons from people who have used them. If there are things that you truly enjoy about them please share and if there are things that you hate, please share them too.

For me the big pros are: peddle drive (of course) and stability (as I really enjoy standing up on lakes where the water is calmer)

I don't have many cons at the moment, that is mainly why I'm reaching out, but from what I've read online it seems that it may not paddle very well when not using the pedal drive.

Thank you guys for your input in advance!

I paddled a Native Mante ray 7years before I got my 2016 outback. Outback just a little wider, but no problem for me as I was used to a wider yak. I like the width and stability.

I paddled for many years before I purchased a Revo last year.
There were a couple reasons I chose the Revo over the Outback.
1. I could comfortably paddle the Revo if I ever had drive issues.
2. I could straddle the Revo if I ever felt unstable or needed to cool off.
3. I could move around more in the Revo.
4. If I ever need to self rescue, it is much easier in the Revo.
5. Less bow spray/slap in rough seas.
6. Less drag = less effort on long distances.
This is just a few things I considered when making my decision
You will have to make similar decisions based on what your personal needs are.
Good luck, hope this helps.

+1  I started out with the Hobie Sport, then Outback, and now Revo.

Weight is another issue for the outback vs revo (11 and 13).
We certainly never had an issue with flipping an outback ever in the ocean. I had the sport and my buddy has the non sport.

full disclosure - I now own a revo just because I’m bored with all my other ride  :smt044
You can’t go wrong with the outback though still a great boat standing for some! I certainly would welcome a swim in Theon a warm summer day :)
