New pedal drive kayak - Lightning Kayaks - Strike

 
Another new pedal kayak will soon be on the market.  Just saw this on Robert Field's youtube page 
He apparently was part of the project. Price looks to be similar to Pelican kayak that is coming out soon. I want to see how this thing performs in the bay / open waters before I decide to purchase. At least more competition will hopefully drive the cost down on those Hobie kayaks

While a decent looking boat the normal price doesn't look to be much of a Hobie killer.

I've meet him personally at Los buzos resort in Panama.  He's not a bad guy. His story is online if u search. Dude literally went from the Corparate world right into the kayak fishing scene with hardly any fishing experience but with a great idea and dream and it's working Big time!

Interesting kayak. The "freedom drive" looks to be an exact copy of the pre-GT Hobie mirage drive. I'd want something comparable to turbo fins, but other than that, it seems like a worthy competitor...

    LMAO...   He's the guy you want promoting your products.   A very likeable guy. I first met him, "Bobby"  back then,  on kayak fishing trip back in 2010 outside Dallas.  He didn't even own a kayak , was still in school.   Since then,,, he's been promoting a line of fishing poles, , popular on the Texas forums etc...   The guy has a great speaking voice,  seen him MC the  tournament down in Corpus Christi,,  and of course  has a cool You Tube channel with a pretty impressive following. .

     Hobie's patent ran out on the drive mech...    It's The Turbo Fin is what's protected right now..  I'd suspect this drive will allow the user to retro fit that to the mast.

If you join the crowd fund at the highest level you can go on a guided "Field Trip" with him......maybe he'll show you around Santa Cruz lol.

I kinda like the design of this kayak, looks like a bass fisher of sho.

Baitman, the more I see and experience other kayaks, the more I appreciate the Santa Cruz Raptor series.  Your design was top notch!

By the way, this looks like Cabela's Advance Angler 120.

I  fast forwarded about 6 or 8 minutes and it was still 'that guy."  That's all I watched.  I just happen to hate smoothtalking info-mercials.   Hate telemarketers also.  Nothing personal.
