Has to do with the new domain that Youtube is using for it's quick link's.  Instead of youtube.com they have changed their links to youtu.be, and the site doesn't seem to recognize it and display the Youtube video window.  A search online shows that there is a fix for it, if your using this s/w package for smf called Aeva Media.

I wish it were that easy.  That "fix" is already in the code base, but alas, it doesn't work.   And the package is no longer supported.  I'll put it on the list of things to debug.

Blah, that sux!!!  Seems like it would be a simple fix to detect both domains, but i'm no coder so of course i'm no help here  :smt002  Not sure what Youtube gains from this domain seperation either, but I guess they have their reasons.

Yeah, you'd think.  A quick look and it seems like it should work.  There is something subtle going on here.  I'll save it for another day ...

Here is a quick explanation on how to work around the new Youtu.be domain links.

If your wondering why Youtube links are showing up in your posts, instead of a nice Youtube window to play your cool new video, here is quick way to fix those URL's so they display the video, instead of just a link.

What happend was Youtube changed it's domain address for the links when you hit the share button on a video.  If you look closely at this link:
Code: [Select]
    http://youtu.be/EoKe7il6VUg
You will see that the domain name  is 'youtu.be' NOT 'youtube.com'.  The NCKA site currently only recognizes youtube.com as a video link, so it is not displaying the 'video box' in your post unless you use a youtube.com link to post with.

Simple solution to that tech stuff I was mumbling about  :smt044

When you click on the link, () and open the Youtube webiste, it should be on your video.  Go up to the URL bar at the top of your browser and copy THAT link to your post instead.  Should look a lot bigger, like this:

Code: [Select]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EoKe7il6VUg&feature=youtu.be

And then your video will show up in the post  :smt003

Al,

You're working too hard.  I think I just fixed the problem.  There was some residual code being called.  I deleted it and it now works.

Here the video you posted using the youtu.be form.
