On a recent dive I came across a weird looking fish hiding in the sand...

Did what I usually do when I don't know what something is and poked it with my spear.

It didn't run away so I grabbed it's tail (of course).

Bad move!!

It erupted from the sand exposing a mouth full of razor sharp teeth, and a powerful demon tail and tried to bite me!!!

Then it charged me at 1,000 miles an hour revealing its terrifying 10 foot long body and gaping maw of gleaming alien jaws!!!

I barely escaped with my life!!

Apparently this hell spawn has a name: Midshipman

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midshipman_fish

Don't be fooled into thinking it is small and harmless...my experience proves otherwise...rabidly aggressive nightmare monster!!!

If I ever see one again I am swimming (fast) in the opposite direction!!

Vid here...not for the faint of heart!! Make sure to turn the sound on so you can hear my screams of terror.

I got a surprise from a Large Angle shark in Tomalas Bay,

tried to be a good sport and take the hook out while along Side the yak.

Good thing I had long nose pliers or I would have lost some fingers !!!

The thing all of sudden, pulls an " Alien " move and shows a set of huge teeth coming out like a bear trap and clamping down on my pliers just missing my fingers,,,   :smt106

The wiki link says they're nocturnal and try to sleep during the day unless grabbed by the tail in which case they become homicidal.
