I have checked around most places. Something like an old trident 13 or tarpon would be solid. Want something a little nicer than a Walmart kayak but not trying to buy a new kayak. can be plenty old and not even have a seat as long as it floats.

Wanted To Buy / WTB Cheap Crappy Kayak

Looking for any cheap kayak to duck hunt out of this year. Preferably something light and easy to load and unload. As far as age and condition it can be old beat up and shitty. As long as she floats and is functional that works for me. No need for paddle or anything else. Kayak doesn't even need a seat as I will be using it for a layout blind. If you have anything feel free to drop me a pm.

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: 19” Outback trolling motor options
« on: August 08, 2021, 11:15:44 PM »
i have my 2018 outback rigged with the 18 lbs thrust watersnake and it can do about 3.5 full speed and trolls at around 1.5 at a little below half throttle using a pwm. If you have questions or want to see how its set up feel free to shoot me a pm and ill send you photos. It connects to mirage drive area and using a single disconnect. If you want photos and how its down ill take them and show you. Also did a bunch of math to calculate time on water and i believe with my 23 ah battery i can get roughly 7 hours at trolling speeds if not more. Ran the battery for around 5.5 hours and still have juice to keep going. Thats doing some full throttle trolling as well.

Ocean Kayaks / Re: Scupper Pro vs. Trident (issues for tall guy)
« on: April 19, 2021, 02:46:45 PM »
I loved my trident when I had it and im a big guy. I had a trident 13 and im 5'-10" and 240-260. It served me exceptionally in everything i took it into. Stability was great as well as speed but as said previously id try it out. The trident was super light as well and i could car top it using one hand for the most part

General Fishing Tips / Re: keeping fishing rods ON the kayak?
« on: January 06, 2021, 07:22:08 AM »
I find a vertical rod holder in the front of the boat works great for this. I have a hobie with the built in rod holder in the front that I drop it in when I am grabbing other things, but my fishing buddy just mounted a piece of pvc onto the rails so he can drop it in when he is doesnt use it. Works great for the times you want it out of the way, and is an easy fix if I'm understanding what your trying to do.

Kayaks / Re: Pedal power folks, need help picking a new yak.
« on: November 30, 2020, 12:32:18 PM »
Coming from a trident 13 myself to a pedal drive i would say the biggest thing for me was the difference in weight. I switched to an outback which is a great boat and i enjoy it without question for stability. On lakes and the sloughs im comfortable standing and stretching and im a fairly large guy. 5'-10" 265 lbs so stability isnt an issue on it. However the boat itself is heavy as shit. I can car top it and its fine but i do find myself going out substantially less since i switched due to the weight of the boat and the hassle of getting it ready. I have loaded a pro angler once and that shit was to heavy to want to use for me. If you are going to trailer it then that alleviates the issue entirely. But i think the outback probably has the stability your looking for and is cheaper than the pro angler. Im located in vacaville and your more than welcome to try mine out some time if you want to. I can meet you on a weekend for some fishing if you bring your boat and we can swap or you can try it out in the pool for self rescue etc. let me know if you want to test it.

For Sale / [sold] FS 2018 Hobie Outback 2400
« on: October 27, 2020, 04:47:26 PM »
Selling my hobie outback. Its a 2018 with turbo fins, sailing rudder, lawrence hook5, nocqua 10ah lithium battery, rectangle hatch for middle hatch. Going to be switching over to a revo instead of an outback and need the space before buying the outback. Asking 2400 if you want it without the accessories feel free to message me and we can discuss the price. Also, if you have a newer revo and your wanting to trade, that is what i am planning to switch to so let me know. If you want more photos feel free to message me. Located in vacaville, but travel to sacramento weekly/biweekly.
