Kevin - your Tarpon was a 140 / 120 ? Not a 160. And wasn't yours orange? Or maybe it's Joe / Skyboy who has the orange T140........
Mooch both of theirs are orange.  The one you bought looks more like mango in the photo.

We'll have to call you "mangokayak"....."bluekayak's" not-so-minimalist brother. :smt044

Nice. I really like my 140, it easily keeps up with my brother in laws scupper pro and it pretty much smokes wider kayaks. Excellent for those "paddle like hell" launches & landings. I'd guess the 160 would track even better.

Mine was yellow.  I guess I need to fish with you guys more this year...

The T160's look like they are build for speed.

Way to swoop that up, Mooch!  I've been checking craigslist and ebay for a T160 or a scupper pro with no luck so far.

With a second kayak on the brain and a tax return check on the way I too have been kicking around the idea a double hatch.  I want easier access to goodies stowed inside.  I like the hatch in the cockpit of the Marauder, but I also like the idea of not getting smoked on the way out the the fishin' hole!

Nate- IMO: The Scupper Pros and the Tarpon 160's are fast. I've owned a Scupper Pro and really liked the weight and the speed of it. My only problem with this particular kayak is that my ass fit like a cork on the seat  :smt011 - not very comfortable at all. I'm really eager to paddle the T160 again. I 've done many test paddles on this yak and I really think it would be great for certain kayak fishing scenerios (like surf launches or chasing salmon all over Moss Landing). The real challenge for me right now is "pimp'n" this yak. The deck layout is a little more rounded so it makes it a little harder to pimp. I'll be doing some home work from the other sites on how to rig it. I'm gonna try to keep it simple :smt002

The Prowler 15 is still by far the best all around yak - IMO. I'd never dream of selling this yak - unless "certain" improvements are done on it.  :smt002

Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for ya!

Congrats on the T160 great yak.
Give me a call . I have one of the tankwell inserts they made for the old tarpon 160s.
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

Mooch,

Nice boat... same as the one I let you demo at Lake Mendo a few months back.  Did that have anything to do with your decision?  Damn, you only had my boat out for what, five minutes?  Is that all it took?  :smt003  I'm glad you got it... I was seriously considering picking it up as a spare buddy/wife kayak.  Don't worry about pimping... as long as you're a minimalist there won't be any problems... Ram mounts help.

160 Tarpon (Old Style) Rules.  It is so much better than the plower.  But, got mine for $500 and that was 2 years ago.

Yeah, I've been demo-ing this yak every chance I got and the more I was on it, the more I liked it. IMO, it's defintely fast but still not the best over all yak. Just like the rest of 'em, there are still little things that need to be improved. I've already made some modifications on my head and I'm looking forward to putting them on the yak as soon as I get it. I'll be posting more on this "mod project: Operation T60" soon after I pick her up at Santa Cruz on the 17th....I'm counting da days  :smt002
