Yakama Racks

   Howdy all

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a used Yakama rack system, It includes:

2 48" rods

2 gutter raisers ( with locks)

2 Q raisers, with Q=clips and locks ( the ones that use the clip to grab the inside of the front top of the door lip...)

2 pairs of J racks ( 4 total )

$290.00...............Is this a good deal?.... ..............Danglin

That sounds like a great deal assuming they are in good shape.  Take a look at the J carriers, I know on the older ones thay used plastic brackets to clamp down and they had the tendency to crack.

We use 62" bars for our two boats.  And, I believe that Q clips are rather specific to each model of vehicle.

I agree.  Go with 62" bars if you can.  The longer bars will allow you carry more kayaks and makes loading easier.

But Danglin is talking about the J racks, in which case, he may be able to fit 2 up there on the shorter bar.  I don't know for sure, but something to check.

Thats the plan..two on the side with j racks, and two stacked in the middle, ....hope it works... I think what I am getting is a good deal, thanks for the input.....Danglin
