Title: Fisha 500 vs the Pro fisha 525
Post by: Gearaddict on August 28, 2017, 11:20:31 AM
I have been doing a lot of research on the stealth kayak Fisha and Pro fisha. I am going to buy a stealth but i wanted everyone opinions here on what model and why? I still need to paddle one in the chop but I am pretty convinced this is my next boat.

1. Fisha vs pro fisha and why?
2. Anyone headed up to Simply that would let me paddle yours for a few hours? Maybe bloody the deck a little??

Thanks,
Gear Addict

I love the look of those Stealths!!  They look built for speed and have a fantastic layout.

If you're looking for speed, my Revo-16 is gonna be hard to beat.....  Just sayin'.  That's because all kayaks have what's called a maximum "hull speed," which means that no matter what, a particular kayak-shaped hull can only go so fast.  The best and fastest ocean kayaks top out at about 6mph.  The Stealths are surf skis, and may be a bit faster, but I would be surprised if they could squeeze out an extra 10%, that said I'm no expert on them.

I just mention this because my full, traditional fiberglass ocean kayak is about as fast as they come, and with it I can barely keep up with my cousin in his Revo-16 even when he's not maxed out...and that's for only about a mile or so before I'm pooped.  Then there's the whole hands-free to fish thing that the pedals offer.

Those who think hobie revolutions are fast have never watched a kayak race. Even the revolution 16 will get left behind by k1s in a 1km sprint. Those guys can top 17kph, that is well over 10mph sustained over a kilometer race.

And the epic v12 surfski is no slouch either. They have incredible glide and can surf small swells for long distances.

Comparing a surf ski to a fishing kayak isn't really fair.

It seems to me that the true advantage of a Stealth fiberglass fishing kayak over a plastic pedal kayak is the weight difference when loading and unloading and that you get an upper body workout when you paddle.

Don't have much to offer as far as advise on which Stealth kayak is best but thought I'd ad my 2¢ .

Nice pick up Tsuri - I'd seen that Stealth advertised a couple days ago and couldn't believe it lasted long enough to be reposted.

Enjoy!

I have a Fisha 500, it glides on top of the water with not much effort, the scupper holes are very small and there is no splash, your sitting position is close to the water so will get a bit wet but is not bad, Dan at Headwaters installed my fish finder and they did a great job, worth every penny, it weights less than most performance fishing kayaks.( 56 Lbs) The Pro Fisha is faster and better, listen to Dan and Ruben and they will recommend a kayak based on your skills, height and weight too and keeping in mind what you want to accomplish.
