Question for the hobie ownersl. I have the mirage outfitter and find the stock seat gets uncomfortable on long outtings. Do any of you have any experience with after market seats? Or how to rig with extra padding at the seat and back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Frankfishing

Hey Frank.  You can adapt most of the comfortable "aftermarket" seats, like the Surf-to-Summit line, as long as you install the 2 pegs that come with the stock Hobie seats to prevent sliding.

Also, have you considered simply buying the new 2007 Hobie seats which now comes with a more padded back and seat?   They're much more comfortable and would be your easiest solution.

No doubt! It does hurt your butt after a while. I'm a bit of a cheapo so can't bear paying a ton for a new seat. KFS has some cool bits of foam that you can buy that I'm thinking of installing under the seat.

Thanks guys I was just informed that i'm getting a new 2007 Outfitter due to some leakage problems with mine (front drive). I have the serial #'s of the Kayaks that are affected which I do not think were meant to be seen  by customers like me. :smt012 Any interest in seeing the Mfr. letter please let me know.
I will try some padding for the time being. I saw the new seat at Paddlefeast and they run about $150.00 which seems to be the going price of a good aftermarket seat.It was the screws that had me confused then I read what you guys had to say and passed on a seat that was up for sale in the classified I know chris understands
