Loaded up my new speargun, all the ab gear and headed to the coast with the whole family for the weekend.  The wind, rain, and swell had EVERYTHING blown out Fri-Sat.  The ocean was OK on Sun. but the rain had all of the creeks belching latte so the viz was still horrific.  Saw my old dive instructor from HSU at Van Damme and he said it was 6-12" at the bottom all the way out to 60'.  Still lots of cooks at the reek at Van Damme, but I passed.

Maybe next week  :smt012

That's the word so far this year - maybe next week. I got jazzed earlier today when my neighbor invited me out salmon fishing on his pb this week 'cause we thought the swells were finally laying down, then I just checked the forecast - not!
Hey Scwa, what kind of gun did you get?

There aren't any storms on the horizon on the pacific, so the swell and wind aught to lay down for next weekend.

Monday
4/11 Down Windswell fading to 4.0 ft @ 10 secs and holding  3.5-4.0 ft  295-300 degrees
Tuesday
4/12 Up some  Gulf windswell rebuilding to 6 ft @ 11 secs and holding  5.5-6.5 ft  300-305 degrees
Wednesday
4/13 Up more  New Gulf windswell building to 7.8 ft @ 12 secs  8.5-9.5 ft  300-305 degrees
Thursday
4/14 Down some  Gulf windswell down 7.3 ft @ 12 secs  7.5-8.5 ft  300-305 degrees
Friday
4/15 Down more  Windswell 5.8 ft @ 10-11 secs and fading fast  5-6 ft  305-310 degrees
Extended
Outlook Down Really short period local windswell to take over and not look particularly inspiring. The southern hemisphere has produced one small system that tracked from New Zealand east. 36 ft seas were briefly reported aimed well at South California. Some small swell is likely on the way north expected to reach the state on Sunday (4/17). Not much size though.

The Scripps model is showing 9-12' over the next few days; it sure looks like less than that at Pacifica this morning. What model are you using, Promethe?

http://www.surfpulse.com/forecast.shtml

I like wunderground for more specific data, but this site often has a couple more days info.  Wunderground does say it'll be windy until fri though, so it might be touchy.  Usually wind isn't bad in the early AM, so some ab sniping might be possible before 10am or so.

Also this kind of gives you an idea where waves are coming from, ect: http://www.stormsurf.com/mdls/grib/npac_height.html
