Aaron, where on the website do you register?
Great question! I'll try to get our developer to add a Derby sign-up link...until then, call to register for the derby and use the online store to rent/reserve a kayak if you need to.Thanks.
-
hey Aaron. Question for ya. Any chance to demo some yaks (for free) for peeps that enter the derby? If you guys have the native fishing SUP I'd love to give it a spin. May be a way to add to the madness? Just thinking out loud. No worries if not. Just asking.
-
sounds tempting. i'll see if i can get the day off.

Every day is demo day at MBK.We charge $20 to demo boats and we will credit that charge toward the purchase of any new boat for 30 days.
If you are renting kayaks from us the day of the derby, we have Tarpons, Tridents, Prowlers, Drifters and Rides available upon request.
-
Thanks for posting the announcement, Aaron! Hope to see LOTS of kayak anglers for the annual MBK Derby this year. We always have tons of fun and fishing is usually pretty decent ion that area in August.
Once again the 1st prize will be an Ocean Kayak Trident 13, for the heaviest Game fish. Every year people ask about sharks and rays so I will anticipate and advise they will not be accepted as entries, with the exception of threshers and leopards, should you be so lucky.
It's about Community, Camaraderie, and Fun, with a dash of competition added. Bring the family for our BBQ feast and awards ceremony.
Any quesitions feel free to post here. PM will work, but best to answer any Q's publicly so I don't have to repeat.
Details on the MBK website as well as signups available there. Here are the rules, same as last year:
Derby Rules
* All fish entered must be caught from a kayak, without the aid of a powerboat.
* Must have a valid fishing license displayed while fishing.
* All DFG rules apply, including the multiple rod rule. If you are fishing for halibut and have no rockfish aboard, you can fish with 2 rods. One RCG fish on the boat=one rod only.
* Launch and landing from Del Monte Beach by MBK only. Travel to other areas for launching and fishing not permitted.
* 12:00 noon is the "cut-off" weigh-in time. Anglers must be present and in line for weigh-in by noon to qualify.
* Heaviest weighed sport-fish wins.
* Leopard and thresher sharks included, but no other sharks or rays qualify.
* If two fish have exact equal weight, then the longer of the two wins.
* Final decisions on any controversy will be made by Derbymeister Allen Bushnell with input from participants.
(Warning: As Derbymeister I reserve the right to be capricious and arbitrary)
Good luck to all, wish I could vie for the prize but alas I am ineligible. I will be out there fishing though and rooting you on.
Allen
.
-
Oh yeah, NCKA will represent once again!
Many thanks to MBK for putting this thing together. And good luck to everybody who enters (yer gonna need it muwahahahaha!)
* Must have a valid fishing license displayed while fishing.

Hopefully I will let someone else catch the red that goes five this year. I want a WSB!!!
-
I'll be there.
With my newly acquired kayak rigging/surf/rescue skills and tips on fishing the bay I'm ready.
I took the MBK training with Aaron on Saturday. I highly recommend it.
Where is the closest and/or best RV camping in the area?
-Mike
-
Hopefully I will let someone else catch the red that goes five this year. I want a WSB!!!
I want one too...
MikeV: I don't know where the good RV place is, but others probably do.....
Allen
-
That red that went five was a star fish, remember that Allen? I will let you catch one of those, while I am reelin in a WSB.
-
Ha ha that's right. WSB for me too. there's a first time for everything....
-
Hey just a reminder 8/8 is coming up soon! Who's in for this year's MBK derby?
Allen
-
AYE!
-
im in, can we register there?
-
Hey Porky, Call MBK and register by phone, then check in and sign a waiver the day of the derby. We will accept entries the day of the derby, but preregistration always makes the process smoother.
Aaron
-
cool
-
Was going to be out of town at Reggae Rising, but they cancelled it! :smt010 So, guess i'll be there unless we decide to go out of town (have the time off...).
Sounds like a job for....
-
Allen,Arron-
I will try to make time for this fun event. Have always enjoyed being there in the past and their is always room for one more yak on the rack.... :smt044
-
A-Hulls for sure dude! Ill call in today sometime to reg.
-
Don't really need anymore yaks, but I always have fun at this one.
I guess I will have to be there.
See ya soon,
Eric / Yakhopper
P.S.
Anyone want to make me an offer on a new Trident-13 :smt044
-
Hey guys we only have three signed up for this event. Last year by this time we had over seventy!
Please preregister for this super fun derby or we will have to reschedule or make serious consideration as to wether or not we will hold this year's event.I know many of you who are planning to attend, but haven't registered. Now is the time to pull the trigger for your chance to win a new Ocean Kayak Trident 13!
Halibut, lings, striper, quality rf and even calicos being caught at MBK recently. With a venue this fishy it would be a shame to miss it.
-
thanks for the update Aaron!
Really if you are on the fence, get off and pre-register so we an have this event happen again.
If the numbers are too low, MBK may have to cancel or alter the Grand prize to a lesser value item. One week to go essentially, so do it now if you're gonna.

I am guessing all attention is going to Albion....maybe there will be some sign ups after ppl get back.
-
I am guessing all attention is going to Albion....maybe there will be some sign ups after ppl get back.
Yeah that's what we figure too. But the sad fact is if there aren't enough sign ups by this weekend, the MBK might not happen this year, or maybe be postponed to the end of September.
It takes a lot of planning and commitment up front to put a good derby on and being able to estimate attendance beforehand is pretty much a necessity.
We'll see.
-
I haven't signed up yet, but am definitely participating. Unfortunately I have to wait until the 5th (payday) to signup. I'll see if I can rally some other guys to signup in the meantime though.
Register at www.montereybaykayaks.com or call at 1-800-649-5357

Signed up this afternoon and talked with the girl ? about the people being out of town at Albion and she said she would talk with Allan about poss waiting till Mon. or Tue. to make the decision about weather or not to reschedule. Hope this works out as I would hate to see this not happen. I was also told that they would need at least 40 pre-signs to make the Yak the main prize.
If you are planning to participate in this event please call NOW and let them know.
See Ya Soon,
Eric / Yakhopper
-
Allen/Aaron, I just wanna inform you that I registered me and my friend a few minutes ago. I hope that the number of participants continue to come in. Thank you very much for help putting this fun event! I look forward to meeting and having a blast with all of you :D
- Daniel
-
Thanks you guys!!
Fingers are crossed it all works out. I'm ready!
Allen
-
I was also told that they would need at least 40 pre-signs to make the Yak the main prize.
Dang I hope we can get some more people to signup if that's the case...because it's pointless to enter a tourney if there isn't a yak as 1st Prize, seriously that's my new motto (copied from Al). Especially at $35/person...that's 1400 bucks if 40 people enter!!!
OK enough complaining, I'll just register and put it on credit, no biggie.
-
I will be registering myself and my girlfriend today. That makes 2 more!
Keep em coming! I will see if i can get old marmite to join. Alien will not be able to attend. Something about his vag hurting.

That's some funny shizz right there. :smt005
Tell Alex the only cure is another 40"+ MBK hali. :smt002
-
Just signed up. See ya next weekend! :smt006
-
If not for the fact that my pops will be in town that weekend, I would love to come try my luck. Unfortunately though, I will be driving to the San Jose Airport. Besides, I don’t have enough room in my truck for two T 13s. :smt044
-
I'm signed in and paid for!!! Remember if you don't need that new T-13 and win it, you can always donate it to me :smt044 I am a non profit unorganised organisation :smt044 as it has been many years since I made a profit :smt011
See ya all out there!!!
-
Hey Ebyek$#@&%@~?get,
It was good to see you at P.I.F. in S.C.
Didn't realize you still actually fished - thought you were an A-Hull and just showed for the after party :smt044 :smt044
Anyway,
If you really want the T-13 I'll give it to you for the same price as the last 2 :smt003
See Ya There,
Eric/ Yakhopper
-
Great to see our brothers and sisters signing up!! Hope we continue to get many more participants registered, would be awesome to see you all and hopefully enough for the grand prize. Keep em coming!! :D
-
Anyone got the head count. I got swamped earlier so i was able to call in in-time. I will reg tomorrow. Count me in for 2!! Bringing my lady.
-
Head count for the MBK tourney is at 16. we need more people registered. I want to win another kayak. lol.
-
Not reg'd yet, but I can add (at least) 3 of my yaks that my "boys" will be borrowing. One of which, Vic, took 2nd place last year!!!
We'll get this done!!!
Blake
-
Forgot to update: As of Sunday at like 4pm there were only 17 registered...I bit the bullet and put it on credit...
I made sure to mention that there was a huge kayak-fishing tourney in MendoCo with 93 participants, and lots of those same dudes will signup for MBK's tourney on Mon-Tuesday.
-
Since there aren't many signed up, I will be there for some sand dabs. :-)
-
I just signed up. There are now 19. Keep 'em coming.
-Allen
-
Yay!!!
thanks Allen and everyone else!!
Allen
-
Keep it going... half way there
I would love to go to the tourney, but if it does not happen... I am coming down anyways.
-
Im signing up too, was gone at Albion, im thinking more guys will register as they return. I didnt get home till yesterday afternoon.
-
Signed up just a moment ago! :smt003 Have to go to my nieces b-day party after, so probably wont hang too long after the event. :smt012
-
Ok, signed and paid.
-
sharkbait and I have signed up.
-
Here are the tides for Sunday...
Low 4:06 AM -0.8
High 10:44 AM 4.1
Low 3:17 PM 2.4
High 9:30 PM 6.6
-
Woop Woop! Derby will not be Canceled
As of 8/3/2010 at 3pm there are
23 people registered for the MBK derby
Porky may be right, more people will register as they get back from the Albion run
We only need 17 more people so that the First place prize is my new, i mean, a new Kayak.
Im going to need another kayak to hold all my fish when i am out there.
Bear
-
Where does it say on their site that the first prize changes if 40 people don't sign up. If they pull the kayak prize, can I get a refund? :smt011
-Allen
-
Good question Allen?
-
MontanaN8V and I are also coming. That's two more. It's unfortunate that it's the weekend after Albion. I'm sure the turnout would have been better if there was a little more time in between the two. I heard more than one person say they couldn't afford to go to two back to back.
I have faith we'll get enough in the end. I think it would only be fair to have the prizes advertised or to give a partial refund. It still costs to put something like this on. The bbq etc. I hear that the people at MBK have been good to us in the past. I'm sure they will be again. :smt001

Try three in a row! :smt005 (I know, I really have no life :smt002 )

Amen brother! Allen too! Its a really fun event, day trip for most, and not that far away for most people!
Hey, just tossing this out there. How many people do you think would show up if Andy and his fryer made and appearnce? :smt003 I got a cooler full of beer for you Andy! :smt006
-
We may just come down for the day, but we'll see. I'd stick around for some of that camp crack (deep fried cheesecake) :smt044 and a beer. That might even make my wife jealous because she can't make it.
I'm looking forward to seeing some familiar faces there. I'm glad you'll be there.
Three in a row is a bit much for most. :smt009
-
This event is put on for a very worth while cause and I strongly encourage any Monterey Bay Salmon Kayaker to come to this event and join the fun. This event is held each year on the Monterey beach and is a great place for the family to hang while you fish. The after party is a great place to see old friends and meet new ones as well as tell fish stories. You might even have a new story of victory when it's all done
PLEASE SUPORT THIS EFFORT
See Ya There,
Eric / Yakhopper
P.S.
Sorry about the 3rd event, the schedule for Beardsley was set before I knew the dates of the others.
GOOD NEWS is the 3rd event is FREE to enter and the prizes will be plentiful.
-

You are correct Allen..... MBK and I were discussing alternatives last week when there were only a couple signups. An alternate first prize was one of the options we looked at (as well as cancelling or postponing the event), but we agreed that if the yak as 1st prize was pulled, it would not be fair to anyone (everyone) who has already signed up with that expectation. Happily this week's rally was more than sufficient to demonstrate the continued interest in holding this event.
We are a GO, no matter how many more do or don't sign up at this point.....T 13 is the grand prize whether we reach 40 participants or not.
I'm excited to see everyone again this Sunday, and looking forward to getting some fishing in myself prior to weigh in. Hopefully we'll see some big fish this year at the weigh in. I think I will be fishing for halibut right out front...............or maybe inside the kelp line towards the Hotel.

-
Wish I could make this event, especially to support the Monterey Bay Salmon and Trout Project because they are the reason I raise steelhead in my classroom, but unfortunately I'll be in Santa Cruz wreaking havoc on my body playing soccer.
Hasn't this event happened later in the month in years past?
-
Allen, thank you sir for the update on the tourney. Another big thank you to MBK and all the volunteers/participants for making this happen!! :D
That's great that the grand prize will still be offered if the 40 goal isn't met. It may give me a better probability with less people, but that isn't going to help me at all unless I was the only participant :P Anyways, happy to see more registering and hope to see many more!! :D

thanks Allen!
also, Dilbeck, we did have it later in the month in previous years, but sadly, I have to be in Alaska guiding with Howard McKim at the end of the month (poor me!).
I'll have a week in Ketchikan, then a week at Foggy Bay with Howie and TallPaul and a few others. Still room on that 2d trip if someone wants to jump........
Allen

sounds dreadful Allen. :smt005
I'm more likely than not for MBK tourney. Will know tomorrow

and let the smack talking commence.
1st Place fish:
2007 = halibut
2008 = rockfish
2009 = lingcod
What's gonna win it this year? A salmon or WSB w/b epic. Or a fat striper.
I am going to catch a 38" halibut (yes I have been to the future). Hopefully that's big enough to win! I'm tired of being the bridesmaid!
Also, if anybody wants to donate their catch to the Carmel River Steelhead Association's annual fundraiser BBQ, see me after the weigh-in! Thanks!!!
-
im gonna get a 38.25" leopard shark Pat... :) :)
-
Porky make it a Thresher and it will count. Edible game fish......
which means "would i eat it, not you"
Personally I plan on catching a 44" halibut, just to show you guys how it's done.
Allen
-
oh yeah, 45" thresher it is Allen!
-
Count me in please. I'll register when I get home from work. See you all there.
Jedmo
-
Hey Bushy...it says Lepps count right there in the Rules!
http://www.montereybaykayaks.com/go_kayaking/fishing.lasso#derby
Check the 7th bullet point.
Although, I agree lepps shouldn't count.
-

Oh, and my 38" butt will weigh more than your 38.25" lepp anyways, Porkster! We go by weight, not length...I think.
-
:) See ya there, looking forward to it!
-
Going for sad dabs, don't need another kayak. :smt011

My brother just moved into a beach house in HB. i DO need another kayak lol. But i like your sand dab idea Scott. Might just join you out there. Can some locals give us the local intel on h20 conditions? Plan on a training swim after and don't want to slog through a red tide (or any brown trouts lol)

right you are!! I still won't eat one though, haha. Now I remember we included leopards because a lot of people do eat them. (but not me)

What is the word on WSB? Have not seen much for posts about them this year. I would like to hook one again this year during the tourney!
-
a pity you need to be in Alaska but glad its not happening with the concourse de elegance car thing. Those Car RVs took up the whole damn parking lot.
I am surprised that you guys are willing to use up all your 38+ inch butt mojo to win a paddle. Cuz the yak is mine. :smt004
Oh and bridesmaid Pat, dont sweat it bro. People still love Fran Tarkenton even if he never won the big show :smt003
-
The A -Hulls will be in full force!!!!!!! :smt067 :smt068 :smt066.. I need to rotate one of my yaks!!!!. Its gonna be A sanddab for me! :smt005
-
I plan on using my sanddabs for ling candy!
-
Good idea Rich...shhhhh. Keep it quiet and don't give away our secrets. :smt044
I'm guessing if anyone is catching the WSB they're keeping very tight lipped. I'd still like to know.
-
I'm guessing if anyone is catching the WSB they're keeping very tight lipped. I'd still like to know.
If you see 50-100 PB's drifting multiple rods in rodholders in 1-200 FOW there are WSB around. It's called reading the water. :smt005

I was hoping to find out before this weekend, but I'm betting I won't. :smt005

The whole Mbay seabass thing is pretty rare. It happened last Sept and this Jan but it's normally a 5-6 year cycle. They just happened to follow squid into the Bay...it's not a normal occurrence. You'd have a much better chance to catch one out of Cap or Santa Cruz (or HMB right now, supposedly). Of course, I'm talking a 1/10000 chance compared to 1/50000 chance....either way odds are slim up here. You'd have a much better chance to catch a salmon or big striper around here. That said, you hooked a seal last year Rich! :smt005 See you guys Sunday! :smt008
-
Sorry Rich, forgot you don't have eyes on the water. Here is my tip...
Target halibut and ling cod. To make things simple, use a whole squid rig which you can use for both. Fish 2 rods for halibut if you don't have a rockfish on your clip. If you want to go all out, bring a sabiki and bait tube/livewell and fish live bait for both. If you want to bring home a delicious dinner, you are welcome to join me for some dabbin. :smt006
scott
-
That's okay. I wish I was that lucky. :smt006
This is actually Gabe. Rich's friend.
When Rich and I went there last year we caught dabs with one rod and drifted a whole squid for the WSB on the other. Dabs are good eating.
-
Just got the green light so I can go. I will register asap.
If I don't get seasick in a 6" swell, beginners luck will prevail.
Looking foward to being alive again.
-
yo guys. brand new to the site, yet familiar through a friend(dpshim). i'll also be attending/competing in this event. first "competition" fishing outing for me ever! although i know it's not about that, primarily, i have a needs to be updraded yak that i fish with right now, so some what important to me :smt003.
yet mostly, i look forward to meeting alot of you out there, hope to get some good pointers and advice. im young, new, and sometimes(most of the time) foolish. so , some healthy tips from more experienced yakkers would be awesome. see you all out there!
ryan
-
I also will be registering online tomorrow....I have never yakked in the ocean, but i figured this would be a good starting point. looking forward to catching something in the salt!
-
If any newbies want to tag along with someone with a little experience, I'm willing to show you around. My plan is to drift dead squid while sabiki-ing up some live bait. Out to the flats for butts we go, hitting the reefs on the way back in. I'll even provide the squid!!!
-Allen
P.S. Limited to 2 people, and you must be appropriately equipped (dressed for immersion, PFD, etc.)

Great idea Allen, Put me on the list for anyone who is a newbie as and wants to be with someone who has some experience. Just look for the older guy in the wet wetsuit. :smt044
I wanna fish with you papa Frank! :smt006
Geez Andy, what about me? :smt064
@Frank: side bet on biggest pair of fish for a newbie/oldguy combo? I got Materalus signed on.
-Allen
-
very cool of you guys, and i love your side bet!
-
If any newbies want to tag along with someone with a little experience, I'm willing to show you around. My plan is to drift dead squid while sabiki-ing up some live bait. Out to the flats for butts we go, hitting the reefs on the way back in. I'll even provide the squid!!!

Hint Hint to MBK Shopkeeper.
You've got a bunch of us equipment-whores coming to fish your tourney this weekend. Throw a SALE sign on pretty much ANY article of gear and it'll likely get snapped up!
Isn't it about that time of year anyway when MBK does their inventory blowout?

#2 - 6-8 oz torpedo weights
1# squid
Landing net

Optional - 1-3oz swim baits or scampis, 2-4 oz metal jigs
For sand dabs - 2/0 sabiki or commercial sand dab gangion

As for myself, my Chemo theraphy was cancelled today (due to a slight cold) so I will pay my way in to support the cause but I may not paddle out. Getting sick right now is the last thing I need - chemo puts my immune system at an all time low :smt011
Anyway, I will try to show up on Sunday to see my NCKA family :smt002 You guys and gals are my cure :smt008

Hi,
Is there room for another newbie? Just pulled the trigger for a T-13, and it's ready for some fish blood. I've kayaked lakes a few times in a sit-in, but no ocean experience. Have farmerjohn/pfd/etc, but waiting for the vhf to arrive.
Thanks for all the great info on this site. It really helped in deciding what to buy.

Also, I've got my two guest passes to the Mbay Aquarium if anyone wants to occupy their non-yakking partner/kids while the tourney is underway. Aquarium is only couple miles south of MBK.

Looking forward to sunday!

Hey...I didn't sign up forf washing down gear!
Materalus, I love your Avatar or is that Misdirection! Guys like your guild get paid pretty well for taking people out. Me I am just a poorly amateur who is always swimming more then fishing. I have the only Kayak in the NCKA with a handicap sticker and rather then the regular handles you'll find that on my Kayak, mine are made from stainless steel that you find in showers that help us older folks from slipping in the bath.
I will say that I am proud that when I have to relieve myself (which is all the time because of inconstant nature of my age) I can usually tell you what the bottom structure is like in twenty feet of water. :smt006

It's funny, Eric B mentioned something along those lines awhile back.
Nah, I've met Tiny, and while he isn't tiny, he isn't livin' large. Cool dude he is.

Personally I plan on catching a 44" halibut, just to show you guys how it's done.

I had a buddy in high school, Samoan. When you here Samoan, you picture huge. But Mila was 5' 6" and 130 pounds dripping wet. Kind of like being a black kid who cant dance or an asian kid who sucks at math. Nothing wrong with it, it just messes with the stereotype :smt004

You could wear one of those shark fin hats then jump in the water and hold onto the back of Sharkbait's yak! He wouldn't even notice another one following him around...it's normal by now.

More importantly, I and the rest of the family wish you continued progress in your health. We all love you brother!!

dont know of anywhere to get live chovies in Monterey. Yup, figuring out how to get that third yak on the truck is gonna be tough...oh thats right, I've done it before :smt003
-
As a kayak fishing professional, I've been faced with the challenge of multiple yaks on the rack all too oftern.
My foolproof method?
Throw it on top, tie it down any way you can, then pray and listen closely for bad noises from above.
Also, keep a good eye on the rear view mirror, and bring duct tape for the road rash factor.
Allen
-
Bear,Arron and Allen, Is their a roll call list that can be posted. I sure would like to give the people who attend, condolence cards before I leave with the Kayak. I like to keep my friends and make them fill better when their feeling down. Also would like to fill them out in advance....

I'm in. Looking forward to meeting you guys/gals.

Allen, whats a good time for family to show up? Got my wife an daughter over at the aquarium. Is the bbq at noon. Also iss the. Bbq for entrants only or family? Have no problem paying for there lunches, just not sure how things work.
Thanks!
-
BBQ happens when weigh in is over, so that's right around noon.
BBQ is paid via entrants fee. We're still prety casual. In the past we've seen some family coming in for food which has been OK, but I'd say if you expect them maybe throw an extra $5 at Aaron in the a.m? also gives him an idea about ##'s for his buying spree.
Allen
-
Cool, thanks. Not a problem. Thx.
-
Allen,
My wife and daughter will probably be joining me after the weigh in so I will be glad to kick in extra for the BBQ.
Last year I didn't see Aaron before the event so I'm just sending a heads up.
See Ya There,
Eric / Yakhopper

I'm sorry I won't be making it. I sliced my right foot yesterday and its tough to walk around.
-
Hey All,
I had a good time at the MBK derby. Great fun and people. Hope to see you all out there another time.
Bear
PS
Anyone happen to find a lost life jacket (PFD). I seemed to have lost it after i came in for the weigh in... though both my fish together didn't even rank lol
LOOKING FOR LOST PFD:
Was orange and black... now more of a Really FADED orange with black hem and zippers. Anyone find it, please message me. Its was the only one i had, and i don't have money for another one any time soon.... so unless i can find that one again... i wont be getting out into the ocean anytime soon.

First and foremost, thank you to MBK and Allen for putting together a wonderful event :D This was my very first derby, as well as Ryan's, and I can say that we had a blast!!
I'm sorry Ryan that you had to settle with 2nd place. But being this is your very first derby and newbie to kayak, you have to give yourself a pat on the back. I am very very proud of you lil brother!! :)
Phil, congrats on taking the grand prize; competition was pretty intense. And to win it by 1 oz!! WTG!!
To all the NCKA fam: Jed, Pat, Allen, Aaron, Ray, Eugene, Nathan, Tiny, Al, Eric, Andy, Chucky, and those names I've forgotten (my apologies): you are all awesome bunch of friends!! :D Thank you for making Ryan and I feel at home amongst the family.
Last, but not least Joel: It was a great honor to have finally properly introduced myself to you :D Your big warm heart and love was felt by all of us. Much love to you brother!!
I can't wait to see you all again soon!!

What a day!!!!! MBK did another outstanding job in hosting this great get together! It was great to see many old and a few new faces. The competition was tight!!!!! I am very honored to have finally won this annual event as it is hosted by a great business and a really GREAT bunch of people! I do feel some pride in being able to say the locals kept the prize in their own back yard. I also want to give a big shout out to one of my heros Great Bass 2!!! Scott that rod and reel you made for me did the trick! It's my new secret weapon (as long as my "good friends" don't help it walk away) :smt044
Thank you to Aaron for putting up with me giving him such a hard time for the last few weeks and cooking up some great man dogs! :smt045 The food was great and really hit the spot! I can't wait for till I have the time to take this new T13 out and get a few even bigger fish :smt044 I wasn't able to take any pics as my camera is dead. I am looking forward to seeing the many that were taken.
All in all it was another great day on and off with a really good group of people. It is just an added bonus to be blessed with bringing a new yak home. I really needed it too :smt044

Congratulations on a well deserved victory. You certainly know that area well. I think I met you OTW out of MBK a few years ago. Your handle is hard to forget??? :smt005 Glad the rod and reel are working out for you. I think there is a lot of good ju ju coming from the Pay It Foreward event. I have bagged 2 lings on the revo toro I won. Sorry I missed the MBK derby. I registered but my Saturday fishing adventure had some surf swimming and I spent Sunday cleaning equipment and trying to get sand out of my ears. :smt044
Aaron
Kudos to MBK and the hard work you put into the derby. MBK has been a great supporter of kayak anglers. After yesterday, probably should take the surf zone class again. :smt005
