This Mackerel dish is quite Japanese so if you're into that this is really good. You have to pick at it a bit since everything's still on the bone but when it's with a bowl of rice and Miso soup... it's all worth it!! :smt003 :smt003

Once again, here goes my translation.

1 and 2 are pretty straight forward.

In 3 they recommend to clean the fish in ice water. They don't explain why but must have a reason.

4 and 5 are also easy enough.

6 Mix the saute ingredients in a medium sauce pan over medium heat.
1 cup of water
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of Soy Sauce
2 tablespoons of rice wine

7 Add the mackerel and with a spoon coat the tops of the fish with the saute sauce. (med-low heat)

8 Mix the miso and a little water with a wire wisk to dissolve it into a paste. (Ketchup consistency)

9 When the top of the mackerel is just turning white add some spring onions cut about 1 inch in length and baste the mackerel with the miso so the tops are covered.

10 Cover lightly with foil and cook another few minutes.

Serve on a plate with rice and Miso soup... EE-ta-da-ki-ma-ssss!! (Japanese for let's eat!)

Zee...  Looks good to me.  I'd like to try it.  I love Japanese food.

So where did you learn to translate Japanese?  That's cool!

Yeah, this dish is great. Let me know if you need any help and how it goes if you make it.

I like the chopping the fish crosswise like they do for crispy duck!
Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.
