The more I look at the raptor the more im liking it. Should I sell my PA and get the raptor? Hows the speed, stability and tracking on this boat. Id like to hear all the pros and cons of the raptor.

The Raptor will solve your issue of "how do I attach a motor" .... or was that you?  Sorry if it wasn't.

Jim has solved some of the toughest "how do I" issues with his yak.

1)  Wheeling around; one wheel on the bow like a wheelbarrow
2)  Where do I mount transducers, outboard, trolling motor, rudder?  Install a transom!
3)  Stability; Make it a triangle!

   Good stuff!

I paddled and dove off a raptor for several months in 2012 and really enjoyed it.

Excellent stability, good tracking, plenty of internal storage, easy to pick up and move around.

I wrote a little review of it here:

You should PM Baitman and demo one! I'm sure you will be impressed.

Sincerely,

Jim

I would demo it first.  Got a SIK Raptor and love it.  Thinking about demo the SOT Raptor myself.

I think one of the new LEER propane powered O/B motors would be SAWEEETTT on this yak!

Come to the Salmon Slam Demo Day next month and try one out. Jim will be there. I know, I'm promoting the wrong brand. Jim will like that though.

20+ hours on my Raptor this weekend. Fished with a buddy that was pedaling an outback and had absolutely no issues keeping up over a 2 mile jog against current back to the cove we launched from after a nice 2 hour drift.

I wrote this out for someone on Reddit that was asking about the Raptor, I hope you don't mind I'm just going to quote it rather than re-type it all.

Quote
Ok, I spent another 20ish hours on the Raptor this weekend with a GPS/FF. I went out 2 days with my buddy that uses a Hobie outback. Sunday we didn't paddle that much, but Saturday and Monday were a paddlefest with currents pulling us around 3 mph or so and us staying out for around 6 hours.
My cruising speed varies between 2.4 and 2.8 knots (2.7-3.2 MPH). That's a fairly relaxed pace in large swell (5-8') and against the current. I had no issues whatsoever keeping up with his outback while he pedaled. At one point we drifted about 2 miles south of our launch and paddled about 2.5 miles back and past the spot to drift again. It took us about 50 minutes to paddle/pedal the 2.5 miles back to where we wanted to start the drift. I stayed right beside him the entire time and we chatted the whole way.
When I really put my back into it I can hit 3.4-3.5 (about 4 mph) knots paddling into the current/wind. Boats like the prowler 13 and trident ultra will leave me in the dust, but I have no issues getting out 2-3 miles against current and wind. I'm not in fantastic shape (although I'm beginning to lose weight and put some muscle back on) so if you're fairly fit you could probably get going a bit quicker than me.
Hope that helps give you an idea of what the Raptor is like speed-wise.

In other not so PR friendly news I have stripped my wet suit to the waist a few times now and stood up to take a leak while fishing. I didn't want the whale watchers to go home disappointed! :smt044
