I have been trying to figure out the best way to really clean a yak after it gets skanked with blood, mud etc.  Not the usual rinse, but the once or twice a season kinda cleaning when it gets too funky to continue.  Never found anything that really kicked butt...until now.

My buddy Capt. Ron is a pb guy and I tried a tech he passed on.  Quickly brush the boat with full-strength liquid dishwasher detergent....it has to be the dishwasher kind.  No need to go crazy, just spread it around.  Let it sit about five minutes, and then hit it with a pressure washer.  HOLY CRAP!!!  Even the funkiest boat will look amazingly better.

I always wear gloves to keep the hands tidy  :smt002  also helps keep out the metal shavings!  Remember though, its gotta be dishwasher (machine) detergent, not dishwashing (hand wash) soap.

Great Tip just try and keep it from washing down your street drains these flow into our fishing grounds.

If you wash it on your grass your lawn will absorb it.

Listerine for the squid hands.  Anything that tastes that bad has got to cover the smell.

White vinegar for those stinking booties and other duds. If it has damaged the neoprene or lycra, I can't tell it. Maybe a cup in couple of gallons of water, tho sometimes the booties need a shot of it straight. You can buy a gallon for a couple of bucks.

I suspect SimpleGreen would do the same exact result with less potential harmful aftereffects.
My wooden kayaks are varnished with 2-part urathane (hard-cure) varnish with carnuba wax as a final step so I just have to rinse and wipe down good. Much like a car finish is maintained.

Simple Green is a great solvent, but I 'm not sure it it would work the same or not.  FYI-SG isn't an enviro free situation either, its just better than a normal de-greaser.
