So I bought myself a fly tying vise. I came across a few guys that make flies on Youtube and decided it was something I wanted to try out.

I created these flies specifically for rockfish. It's going to be a while before I can head out on the water to see if they actually work so I'll be making others that will target striped bass and surf perch till that next run comes around.

This summer I brought my vice to santa cruz when we were camping to tie some rockfish flies up. My lady ended up taking it away from me. She wants to make a 100 to give away as raffle prizes for the next albion.

Nice! Do you have pictures of the some of the flies you've made?

Those look great! They would also work for bass I would bet. I tie flies, and have a good time getting creative. Flies for rockies are easy, they will bite about anything especially when you tip it with squid. The fun thing, is making the UGLIEST thing you can imagine, and then catching a fish on it!
I make butterknife jigs, and it is a blast catching fish on those too.

Doubling up on homemade tackle is the best!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Used to fish with similar flies in BC tied with polar bear hair on one hook then cut off hook and add another hook trailing back in the fly. Knocked the crap out of the salmon.
