I am so fucking excited about the possibility that this could actually happen. The chance to reconnect the brotherhood. The brotherhood that has meant so much to me for so long. A brotherhood forged by the sea and our mutual need to survive and thrive in the sea. Interacting with Mother Nature on such a simple yet gritty and honest level with people I truly care about. That is what makes me happy. The lost coast is so special. I will make a million fish tacos and take out the trash too. Anything for my brothers.

Preach!  Stoked that you're stoked, bro.   :smt007

I’m reminded of great adventures not so long ago of salty voyages in a lost area of the Northern California coast.
My sole aches to revisit these haunts of days gone by …..
Who knows what the future holds where “Life is Good”
See ya soon,

I wish I were closer and I'd jump on it.

Best of luck, Bushy, and take care of that knee!

I own 2 lots in SC.  1 close to airport and the other nearby in the redwood.   If you're tight on budget,  you can camp out on my redwood lot.  Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks so much, Sonny!  I think I'll need a solid roof overhead, with all of the tourney materials and gear that I'll have on hand.

Thank you, Jerry!

...it's new owners and I got the impression they have some deep pockets, owning a few campgrounds around the west.  This lady moved out from one that the new owners owned back in Texas and is now working here taking reservations.
I asked if there were any changes from the old owners and she said they are planning to sink some money into the place, starting in a couple weeks to refurbish the bathroom/showers.
I can't recall her name right now, but it was very Southern/Texan, with two names, like Mary Ann or something like that.  Ha!

Yep.  I feel like I need to go down there to feel out the campground situation as well as the local inns.  There've been some significant changes for sure.  I'll hope to strike a deal with the new campground management so I have the option of using their pavilion again.  The Tides Inn sold, and it's now called the Black Sands Inn.  It's run remotely, has seen some pretty major remodeling, and I think it's pretty pricey now, compared to the past.  I've always stayed at that inn, but this year I think I will need to rent a house to serve as Tourney HQ.

I would attend, even though I can't kayak anymore.  Especially if Crash can take orders for oysters!
Too soon to preemptively reserve a campsite or hotel room?

****EDIT****
Never 'too soon', reserved site 12 at the campground.
I think I'll bring the smoker and do a 17-pound brisket I found in the freezer for the potluck if there is going to be one.

Right on, Jerry!  Looking forward to linking up again after some years.   :smt001

Does not work for Kim, my vote would be for May4th, just sayin...looking forward to it either way.

I appreciate receiving your input, brother, and Kim's preference weighs in large too.   :smt001

I am honestly leaning toward the 4th right now, to get the "closest to the opener" vibe, and to avoid Mother's Day, but I won't make a decision until I know the seasons for sure.  It'll come soon, and I'll be ready.

It's gonna be a good thing.   :smt001

General Talk / Re: Water Spout at The Cove
« on: March 02, 2024, 08:38:47 PM »
Channels 68 and 69:  "Attention, all GS participants.  Due to hazardous weather conditions, all are required to remain within 3 miles of the Cove until further notice."

Seriously though, that is a legit water spout - 2000 feet tall and substantial.  Wow!  There was one last year that showed up down at No-Pass for a bit, but this one's much larger.

Can you even imagine being under that while paddling?   :smt007

And for the record, I did require participants at one of the GS's to stay inshore between the Bell Buoy and the Lighthouse Point one year while the wind and swell were whipping.

Need some Cove soon, for sure.
