For Sale / FS: Rhino T-loader (Sold)
« on: June 19, 2021, 01:56:43 PM »
Rhino T-loader with lock and anti slip mat. Paid $299 for it. Pretty much brand new as I’ve never taken it out on a trip, only to test loading a kayak on it on my driveway. It’s great for loading a single kayak, not so much if you have to load two hence my reason for selling. Great for loading an AI, PA, or any tanks on your roof rack. Minor scuffs from being stored. $200

General Talk / Shark Shield metal shavings?
« on: December 20, 2020, 06:42:48 PM »
I've been noticing these black "shavings" or little strands fallout from my shark shield every time I go out. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and if its normal. They're short like 1/4" or less. I never really get the chance to really inspect them closely. I do rinse my SS thoroughly after each trip. Any idea if its a valid concern?

For Sale / Hobie passport $999
« on: July 30, 2020, 10:52:18 PM »
Just a heads up. I was at Concord REI earlier and they have a returned Hobie Passport on sale for $999. I believe its the 12ft model, it has what looks like a transducer housing. Hull looks clean with very minor to none scratches. Description says it was used a couple of times. Looks like a great deal for someone looking for a starter pedal kayak

General Talk / Do kayaks react to other plastics?
« on: June 09, 2020, 12:40:23 AM »
I’ve seen deep six divers melt when mixed together or plastics lures doing the same. Is this the case for kayaks also? Reason I’m asking is I have a cheap plastic tub I got from dollar store that I want to stash and leave inside the front hatch for eternity. I don’t want To one day open the hatch to find out parts of my hull has melted.

Wanted To Buy / WTB: Lowrance Elite5/Hook5 power cable
« on: September 08, 2019, 03:17:28 PM »
Looking for a power cable for my Lowrance Elite5/Hook5 fishfinder (I think they use the same cable). It sucks switching and undoing cables between kayak and portabote. Let me know if you have one you don’t need. Thanks

Craftsmen's Corner / DIY Weedless Jig head
« on: June 12, 2019, 01:22:16 PM »
I have an upcoming mothership trip to SoCal in 2 weeks and bought a few of their go-to weedless jig heads while I was there. Catch is, they cost an arm and a leg. So I decided to make a cheaper version. I think this will also benefit us up here in NorCal for rockfishing.

Materials:

- Any rigid, small diameter wire. Piano wire maybe. I got one from Ace hardware for $1.39/4-5pcs I think. You may have to play around with a different diameter wire.
- drill
- super glue or any glue of your choice. I used some kind of silica then add super glue over it.

Instructions:

1. Drill a small hole on top of you jig head. Be careful. Doing this will produce some sharp burr. Shave them off as needed.
2. Cut wire to length. Bend in half
3. Insert both ends in hole. You may have to cut some more to get the proper length. Add glue of choice
4. Done!

I haven’t tested it out yet, but it looks promising.

General Talk / Fairfield/Vacaville Fire
« on: August 10, 2018, 09:18:30 PM »
Was watching it on the news earlier and I thought it was still far from my residence. My friend Ryan (Agoodhi) texted me about it after a few hours. I looked out and it was clear. Then I went outside and the hills a few blocks from our neighborhood was burning and getting closer. Talked to a few neighbors then went in to pack all the importants stuffs just in case. Stay safe if you’re living in the vicinity. Power’s out and the cell reception was so shitty earlier. Good thing I’m a big hoarder of flashlights and camping gears.

General Talk / Anyone uses a dash cam for driving?
« on: February 26, 2018, 02:41:25 PM »
I drive 75 miles to work one way pretty much everyday and Ive seen a lot of crazy stuffs on the road. Been in a collision once (not my fault) and the other guy tried to make up stories to deny liability. He lost eventually. Just something I’ve been considering and just wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

Craftsmen's Corner / Rod Rack Modified
« on: June 19, 2017, 12:03:12 PM »
With all the fishing rods I've accumulated over the years, I had to modify the rod rack I built some years back. The rack itself is a copy of any rack you see at any tackle shop. What I did is make a cutout in the middle and add rubber holders you can get at amazon. here's one kind:
https://www.amazon.com/Organized-Fishing-Replacement-Accommodates-Spinning/dp/B003BYKJH6/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1497898720&sr=8-13&keywords=rod+rubber+holder  It will hold 20+ rods on the outside and you can put as much as you can (without reels) on the inside area.

For Sale / FS: 2012 Hobie Revolution 13 $1400 SOLD
« on: February 23, 2017, 11:00:14 AM »
Up for sale is my 2012 Hobie Revo 13. It'll come with the following:

- Upgraded Surf to Summit Expedition GTS seat (retail for $180)
-Installed 2x Scotty flush mount and 1x Scotty mount inside the mesh pocket (I use it for my downrigger)
-Applied JB Weld on both the stern and bow keel for  protection when dragging or surf launch/landing
-Brand new Hobie paddle
-The two side mesh are brand new
-Turbo Fins and Sailing rudder
-Lowrance Elite4 ff/gps combo with 2x transducers. Condition of it is a little questionable. It was bogging down a bit the last time I used it. Could be operator error.
-worn out, but still functional gear bucket
-Original Mirage fins and rudder

Never had a problem with this kayak. It takes in a little bit of water like any other Revos. Always garaged until recently (made room for the new toy). Pick up in Fairfield. SOLD
