My Lowrance 7" Color screen draws less than the Garmin 4" B&W :smt003  My 9" Lowrance might even draw less too....   :smt005

Yup, I run my Elite 7 HDI 8hrs on a 7amp and will still have 40% or more remaining at the end of the day. Good things, mazel...

When I had a Garmin,it was necessary to wire 2 twelve volt batteries together to produce 24+ volts to get more than an hour or two of operation.  Mine was a 400C and it was designed to operate on 24 volts.  When it finally died, it literally went up in flames as my yak sat at the edge of the delta as I was getting the rest of my gear from my car.  I yanked the power cord from the back and dumped the unit in the first available trash can.  I always liked the size and quality of the display but the additional weight and hassle of the second battery wasn't worth it.  I just installed a new Lowrance Elite-4 combo FF/GPS.  It appears to be the right FF for me after one outing.  The display is much smaller than the Garmin but it's large enough to get the job done.

Some wires were separated, easy fix. But I would have never had figured it out since I had no idea what to look for.
