I caught this one on my first drop. Then the ling action died for me and I didn't get another one the rest of the day. It was mighty cold this morning but once the sun came up it wasn't so bad.

Well my Santa swimbait came through at Ft. Ross in Sun. It was slow for me today and I picked up this 26" Ling near the end of the day
It's a little challenging to get an accurate measurement and then get a pic of it but I did my best
It was tough for me to release that fish since I was Lingless this Day and it was the only  legal Ling I had.
But as they say, rules are rules so... yea!
I was glad to see My Santa get hammered!

Setting free the Holiday Ling was tough for me as well ...especially after a two hour dry spell bouncing the "Christmas Tree Lure". Finally I lost that lure and switched up to the "Reindeer Lure" and the lings destroyed it!!. Maybe the outline of the antlers made it look like a little octopus?

It was fun trying to convince the Ling you are going to release it after a quick picture....no dice. Finally it calmed down enough and snapped the pics. The lip gripper slightly ventilated the lings lip above the jaw but I think it will take the insult rather than the alternative outcome.

No Limit on lures.  This is not simply fishing.  This is complicated stuff, but you can make all the lures you want as long as they have a holiday theme.

Nice ling, Ken.  I believe this is the first fish to be caught on a garland.  Unfortunately, it looks like you were keeping it.  All fish entered
should be released.  Sorry if the wording was ambiguous.

When I saw your Holiday Lure at the wedding, I thought it was technically the best I'd seen.  I didn't think Santa would stay on once a ling got it in it's mouth.  Congrats Scotty.  You are definitely in the running for the "yet to be determined" grand prize.

I didn't see any of your fish on a measuring device.  Did I miss it?

That's ok about the wording. I actually expected that might be the case before I went fishing. I'd never release a keeper ling just to win a contest. Especially one big enough to be competitive. So even if you had said all fish must be released, I still would have been out of the competition. I still enjoyed creating and trying the lures. It was my choice to keep my fish for my dinner table and I'm ok with it.
