This will be my first NCKA event. We have a jetty campsite, I think 96? My wife Margo and I look forward to meeting you all and participating in the events. Is there a gathering on Saturday night?

Any idea about the typical availability of the non-reserveable walk-up only sites, and/or anybody backing out that wants to cede their reservation?
Hoping to get there with my wife for our first CrabFest!

If you're aiming for a walk-up site, get there EARLY on that Friday. That's still not a guarantee you'll get one though. Its usually harder to do in the summer (walk-up sites are usually filled by 9am on Fridays in the summer), but its going to be a busy weekend at Doran. Usually, the fewer the reservable sites available on any given weekend, the harder its going to be to get a walk up site. I've tried to get a walk up four times and have only succeeded once. You can also try Westside or Bodega Dunes if you just need a place to crash and don't mind doing the day use thing at Doran. I have no idea about the walk in sites, I know in the past some members have been able to get them. Hope it all works out and welcome to NCKA.

I'm pretty slow getting ready. I suppose I could park at the gate and get ready while I wait. As I recall the launch is an easy wheel from the gate. I just noticed that the incomming tide doesn't start till around 10:00. Maybe there isn't a need to be out at first light. Is the crabbing good on the outgoing tide?I'm in. The Jetty day use does not open until sunrise. You are able to pay at the iron ranger and drive to the gate at the Jetty Day use.

Hey Victor - I know this isn't a real cool fishing rod or an Eddyline, or even an awesome ukulele, but if it might help raise a few bucks - I will bake, frost and donate a two-layer version of my carrot cake for someone to enjoy all to themselves :-). They wouldn't even have to share! hehe.

I know the intent of the Styrofoam ban is to keep people from littering disposable coolers, but I'm pretty sure that all my crab buoys are made of styrofoam. Not gonna sweat it unless directed otherwise.

Crab must be measured on the water. Do not bring a undersized crab to the weigh in table. Fish and Game may be there so make sure you know the rules.
