General Talk / Kiet’s progress report
« on: March 19, 2024, 10:59:57 AM »
Kiet received his lung transplant on 2/25…now we are settled in, in Palo Alto for at least a 3 month stay. All in well…lots on pain, at times, in his knees and ankle. His doctor feels 2 or 3 weeks the pain should subside
Now Kiet is cooking up a storm, and chomping at the bit…non-stop. And he is ready for visitors, anytime.  His doctor visits are early Monday and Thursdays. Hope to see friends soon!

Damm! Alright Justin! This is excellent. Thank you to all who put this together. My wife saw the 5 night stay at the Redwood Hideaway, she is in. And thank you Dylan, and your Bro for the generosity.
And to note, Kiet is whipping ass in the hospital…he is already ahead of schedule. I am guessing he will be out of the hospital in 3 weeks…then move into on site housing for an estimated 3 to 5 months. Let’s keep the fingers crossed.  Ron/Sharkie

General Talk / Kiet’s operation: DONE!!!
« on: February 26, 2024, 11:52:05 AM »
Kiet has received his new lungs…Ryan says all is well and we need to keep a close watch on him.
Gratitude and prayers for the families that made this possible for Kiet. And to Ryan, who spent all day at the hospital…a difficult and stressful effort. Thank you Ryan!

General Talk / Kiet’s GOOD NEWS!
« on: February 20, 2024, 07:17:03 PM »
Ok!!! After Kiet has jumped thru a million hoops, he is 100% ready for his double lung transplant.
Kiet is resting comfortably at the Stanford hospital, receiving the best care in the world….7/24.  This is just what is needed. Now the waits on for the proper lung donor.
I will find out if Kiet can receive visits…you can contact Kiet on Facebook and/or leave a message here.
Thank you to all who have given Kiet the strength to tackle this illness head on. He will get over this hump and return to the Cove to fish and enjoy his family soon! Ron

General Talk / Re: Kiet’s transplant update
« on: June 12, 2023, 07:08:51 AM »
Ok…here is where Kiet stands as of now. He will travel back to Stanford this Tuesday, 6/12 for more tests. He will be assisted by his long time friend and nurse, Ryan.
Ryan has volunteered to be Kiet’s secondary caregiver, I will be the primary….if indeed Kiet receives a transplant. We will know more after this visit, the doctors claim an answer, either yes or no, will be forthcoming quickly.
Last weeks 4 day hospital visit was stressful….but offset by visits from all the usual suspects…two nights of great food and merrymaking at our rental house. Thanks to the 20 people who helped Kiet relieve his stressful situation
I will report back soon, Ron

General Talk / Kiet’s transplant update
« on: May 28, 2023, 08:04:38 PM »
Ok folks, more interesting news for Kiet. Kiet and I are heading down to Stanford Medical Facility for a 4 day visit
Not sure at this moment what types of test and evaluations he will go thru….starting on Monday 6/5, to Thursday 6/8.  Up to this point I have the opinion there will be 10 miles of red tape and 5000 hoops Kiet will have to jump thru, to become eligible for a lung transplant.
But…Kiet is committed…100% onboard. I will check back in after the 4 day visit with another report
Not sure if Kiet will be up for it, but it might be nice for you friends to visit…maybe for dinner   Give me a call or text and if possible, we can make a plan for dinner. Ron Perry. 925-577-7336.
    Thanks!!!! For his support!

Heading down to La Ventana for about a month, from June 18th to maybe July 15th. Fishing and diving with my 18ft aluminum CC. Staying at the campground in town, across from Pablo and Heli’s restaurant
Anybody tough enough to be down there, look me up for a beer, dive, or fishing trip. White Ford F-150 with white shell.

General Talk / Keit’s GREAT news
« on: April 26, 2023, 07:21:02 PM »
Just finished talking with Kiet. He is extremely jacked up.  On June 6th he has an appointment at Stanford to determine his potential eligibility for a lung transplant.
Please remember… I am the low level dishwasher/janitor/empty the waste paper baskets and clean out the toilet guy. Not exactly sure where this puts Kiet with his transplant. BUT, this has to be good news.
I plan to travel with Kiet to Stanford….what Kiet needs here is an advocate who understands the language and direction he should travel with his medical care. For me it is my wife.  If anyone in this field can step up and advise/ support/help Kiet with his options, please step up

On another note, thanks to Kenny Baker and Joseph Velho! These guys whipped ass at Kiet’s property a few weeks back. Tons of clean up, sold a ton of stuff, and now have Kiet’s property in manageable condition.  Still making a plan to cleanup and have a get together at Kiet’s place soon. Will keep all posted, Ron

General Talk / Re: Kiet’s Lung Fundraiser
« on: April 13, 2023, 06:11:59 PM »
Thanks! I will arrive about 9:00am on Friday….it’s going to rain sometime on Sunday. The sale stops at 2:00pm on Sunday, so I think I may head home…3 hours away, after we clean and close things up.
Kenny Baker will be there, along with Kiet’s roommate James and his son…..Kiet’s property is vast so the more eyes the better. Your dog is cool, we will bbq for dinner Saturday night, beer and who knows what else
I forgot something, may check in later, long day! Ron

Hi everyone, I am having a work day/weekend and garage sale at Kiet’s place, Cave Junction. This Saturday, April 15th and Sunday the 16th. I could use lots of help selling Kiet’s stuff and general clean up.
6000 West Side Rd, Cave Junction. I will be there Friday setting up and continuing to clean up. If anyone can make it, let me know how long so I can provide food/drink/sleeping accommodations.
Then…May 13th we will have a get together for Kiet, he will be back from Vietnam then. More info after the garage sale.
Thank you to all who have contributed $$$$ and help for Kiet!

Ice/snow on 101, 199, 299…so, let’s put off any type of clean up and garage sale until we get better weather
I am close by so I am heading up tomorrow, 3/28, and 3/29.  Will get a good plan for us when we get better weather

Kiet has made progress with transplant news….if and when are not known yet, but Stanford may be his best option. I will keep people posted when I get more info.
Thanks to all who have contributed! Ron
