Saturday's trip: COLD.
As a guide, I take very seriously the responsibility for making the call for going or not going on a trip. With the steelhead fishing it's basically always about the turbidity of the water, but I do factor the weather in. Today was supposed to be chance of showers early and a high of 50 - sounded reasonable...
We started the day in 34 degrees and rain, and at one point it snowed on us a bit. My guys, Rodney and Sky, were up for it, and I was stoked to be taking them out! The showers weren't heavy, but they didn't taper off early as forecast - we got rained on all day. Hands got cold a few times, but we were geared up with all of us wearing a 6 or 7 mm farmerjohn under a drysuit.
The Eel blessed us with safe passage and some beautiful wild fish, and being ready for the cold weather made it that much more fulfilling.
Main Eel open for steelhead through the end of April, and the South Fork is open through the end of March.

Ditto on the great pics Eric. Weather looks nice and crisp . One of these years I will make it up there for this type of fishing. Love to see a steelhead come out of the water in those type of conditions.
