So I have heard/read that sturgeon can spook from a FF being on. The recommended thing is to find your spot with the ff then turn it off to keep from scaring them. Does anyone know if that applies to any other fish? Stripers? I wouldn't think so, stripers seem to be just too aggressive for that. But as most of my stripers come in 7-15ft of water so I started thinking maybe that shallow it might be a problem.

I have caught a lot of sturgeon and always had my FF on, although I caught most of my dinos in 70-80' of water. The shallow water in SPB  might be a differant story.
I have been much more successful with Stripers since I got my FF and it is always on.

I've caught plenty of sturgeon in shallow water (5 to 15 ft) with my fishfinder always running.

Thanks everyone. I'm not going to worry about it then, I definitely have had much better success striper fishing with the FF on. I still have yet to see anything on it but knowing the depth and especially knowing what the bottom looks like really helps. Lately all my stripers have come 10' down and no more than 3' off the kayak so I didn't really think it bothered the stripes.

Eric~
Does the sturgeon show in the shallow water when you are anchored?? Once I get to my spot I turn mine off to save the power supply.
