General Fishing Tips / Re: Lake Pillsbury Tips?
« on: February 21, 2020, 10:18:06 AM »
I don't have any tips as I haven't been up there in years. I think it's the road I didn't like when I last went, though I've been thinking of going back. I look forward to your report.
I do remember catching many pike minnows and having the lake all to myself, early spring.

The road has been grated and repaired since then and is bumpy, but much better now.  I actually drove my 24' Sprinter RV up there last summer and it was a piece of cake.  Pillsbury is your typical bass plug and trout trolling lake.  Use your depth finder to find where the trout are hanging (usually 30'-60' there) and troll around while watching the bald eagles and hawks dive bomb fish around you.  Squaw fish are abundant there.  They are invasive, so bash 'em on the head and toss them overboard.  Then crack a beer and wait for a badass bald eagle to swoop it on it.  Its a great show.  Love that lake!

And bring your guns!  You can target practice right there are the airstrip.

Sorry about the repost!  Guess I didn't scroll down far enough!

Rich and I are coming for sure.  Gonna convince my bro to finally step out with us as well.  Can't wait!

I've nested 2 Hobie Outbacks on my little Mazda 3 and drove them 60 miles to McCovey Cove without a problem.  Just be sure to tie down both front and back.

Amazing video!  Fought that beast for 6.5 hours and was towed 15 miles out to sea.  So far out, the chase boat ran out of gas.  Good group of guys who were conscientious enough to cut it loose before they killed it.  Everyone wants a Hobie after seeing this video!

General Talk / Re: SUPER BOWL LIV

Congrats to the 49ers for winning the 3rd quarter!  (Did anyone tell them there was still another 12 mins to play?)   HAHAHAHAHAH!   That was some of the dumbest shit I've seen in the SuperBowl!

Hell yeah!  I know its last second but I just got the green light for this weekend.  I'll be rollin' up in the might THOR RV from Sonoma County.  Sorry, I didn't get a chance to register but I will donate the entry fee along with anyone I can convince to roll up with me!  Looking forward to seeing everyone and thanks to the InnKeeper for putting it all together!  Woot bawls!

That's right mf'ers!  I signed up first!  (Although its Chris, not Curt but you can call me anything you want).  I'm bringing up the RV and maybe a buddy.  Is it okay if we pay his $30 on arrival as he is a last minute entry?

And lastly, I saw your 6oz torpedo and 2/0 double bait rig recommendation.  Any other rigs/baits recommended?

Kind of a bummer that this event is conflicting with the annual Open Shelter event on the same weekend.  Were there no other weekends to host it?  I guess I'll send a donation to one and and attend the other.

Very cool!  I'm gonna try those setups next time I head to Berryessa!

Reg sent.. gonna be a great weekend!

Sorry I missed the registration but I just got cleared to attend.  I'll be coming down to fish and have a few beers with everyone though!  Mr. Nugyen, I sent you the $30 reg fee anyway.  Thought you could put it towards something good.  See everyone there!

Sorry Eric, not gonna make it this year.  Wife is in Italy and I've got the dog.  If I manage to snag a canceled RV site I'll bomb up there with the Sprinter and fish a couple hours during the tourney.

Regardless, I'd like to donate if you have a PayPal or Venmo.  Love this tourney and all the work you put into it.

I'll have to hit you up for some Intel where to go in SC.  My brother lives on the point and I'm there all the time.  Just clueless where to fish there.  Good info about Cowell being off limits.  I didn't know that.  I have seen people launching off the Capitola pier.  Ni e catch!

Sorry, not making it this year.  I managed to snag a couple tix to the NHL All-Star game in San Jose this weekend.  Is that a legit excuse or what?!!!  Have fun!
