No work started yet other than markings. Looks like the islands for the east end of the parking lot will be worked on. From the looks of the paint markings the 2 handicap spots will be offlimits also, and the portapotties also, the line continues straight across from there to the fence.

Did anyone lose a Scotty rodholder at ARW this last weekend. I found one next to the old bathrooms Sunday morning (Aug 04)

It looks like the weather will let these old bones try for some halis’. I will be launching around 0800 to catch the last of the incoming and the start of the outgoing. Will be checking water temp and color while I try out my Handline. Never used one before so I better practice before the Handline tourny in May. I was told that since I won it at last year Albion that I have to participate!!👍👍 On the water at 0800. Headed out towards SF and caught a 16 incher on my handline. Its a different feeling than using a rod. During the next 3 1/2 hours I felt several hits, knew they were not dragging on the bottom as I was letting the bait back down after checking it. Water temp was 55/56 degrees and clarity was good (dark green with no brown tinge). A lot of people on the wall catching jack smelts.

General Talk / Handline spool info?

I just came into possession of a handline spool during the Albion raffle. I have sanded it smooth and etched it with pertinent info. Now I am wondering what to use to seal and protect it from the elements. Also what is the reccomended size line and type to use? Do i need gloves when fishing and what type should they be? Also open to any other info that would be useful.

Fishing Tournaments and Events / ARW tournament RED ALERT

If you are coming into Alameda for the tournament be AWARE that Webster st will be blocked from Pacific ave all the way to Central ave. It would be best to come out of the tunnel and turn right at Appezatto Way and continue to Main st where you turn left. Continue to the entrance for the launch just before the High school and turn right.

Arrived at around 0700, and meet RnRGEEK who pulled in just ahead of me. We both set up and I headed out just ahead of him. Said hi to Arial at the launch. Headed down the wall to the first opening. RnR and I Then did a slow drift back along the wall, thru the flagpole hole, past ballena channel and a short way down Crown beach. At this point the wind wass picking up so decided to sneak back thru ballena and past the tires to the launch. Off just before 1200. Nothing for me today. For RnR I will let him explain his first ARW trip.

Hobie Kayaks / rudderpin position

What is the proper position for the rudder pin? Notch to either side, straight back? I just picked up a demo Outback

from CCK and am in the process of rigging it. YAH I know I have gone to the dark side of yakking

and can't wait to get it on the water at ARW for some hali chasing.

Going to hit the wall one last time this year.(try 18)

Launch at 0800 to an incoming tide (high just after 1000), so I will work the flagpole hole and the Ballena channel entrance.

Its been a month since my last try. Will be at the ramp at 0700. Catch some incoming, top of tide, and outgoing. The fish reports are saying the hali's are in the main bay so hopefully a few will be down this way.

It looks like the winds will be down for several hours Sunday morning

. Thought that I would try it again at 0700

. Tide will be outgoing till about 10 and then incoming: should be able to drift both walls back and forth? Its been almost a year since I've caught one
