General Fishing Tips / Tackle Bag Recommendation
« on: May 07, 2018, 03:49:31 PM »
I have been using Cabela's small green tackle bag. Its a nice bag, but, when I fish in the salt, all the zippers corrode. Any recommendation? Looking for 12 x 8 x 6 - in that general size.

.. Thanks

I am the original owner of the Ocean Kayak. Hummingbird FF Helic 5 GPS Sonar (no chart inc) OK thru scupper Transducer included. Added OK Rudder and Anchor trolley. Kayak is in great shape.  Price is $750 obo without Fish Finder, Transducer, Mount and battery.

My phone is 925 250-0737. More pics available.

ADDED: Home Made pontoons. Used crab floats, PVC, scotty rod extensions and scotty locking mounts. Tested them once.
Worked...

Kayak Sold! Thanks Zach!

These are included! see photo

Ok guys, the first $850 takes the whole kit and kaboodle!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Wet Suit, Dry Pants or Gortex Waders
« on: August 28, 2015, 11:12:35 AM »
Hi

Any suggestions about what to use inside the SF Bay and Carquinez Straits and Ocean? I have been paddling in the Carq Straits near Benicia. The water is warm and air temp warm to hot on the water. Basically wearing nylon pants or swimsuit with quick dry shirts. I get wet and its been OK. But when the weather cools off I want to stay dry.

Ocean - I have a farmer john wet suit 3mm. Dry pants OK?

SF Bay - Chest high gore tex waders, dry pants or wet suit?

General Talk / Ocean Kayak Trident Rudder Issue
« on: August 16, 2015, 07:41:19 PM »
Don't know if this is the right forum for this....

I installed the Ocean Kayak rudder kit on my Trident 13. I have a real problem using the control lines to raise and lower the rudder.
Raising is easier (not much) than lowering. I am reasonably certain I installed correctly. Seems like too much drag on the line through the guides.

Any suggestions?

I live in Benicia and have had my Yak out about 5 times. If you know Benicia in the summer its windy. I haven't been out with
winds less than 15 Mph. I went out yesterday with the new rudder installed..what a difference! I was able to track straight and steer
while paddling on both sides. The last few times I was out, I had 15 to 20 mph winds at my back with the tide going out against the wind.
This created a following swell about 1.5 to 2 ft - confused... with out the rudder I had to fight to keep the Yak  from going sideways into the swell. The rudder was sweet , I could steer and keep the Yak perpendicular to the swell. At one point I stopped paddling and just let the wind
blow me down to 9th Street. I had one swell nearly tip me - i was able to steer to recover. Good Investment!

Caught one small striper trolling. Didnt even know it was on the line  :smt001

PS Pic is looking toward Mt Diablo Hummingbird Helix 5 Sonar GPS
