Out of my normal range - any launch & intel for the general Eureka vicinity would be appreciated.
Probably in the area for the next couple days.

Thanks

There's lots of Eurekas...  Eureka, Kansas.  Eureka, Texas...

There's no way you're in Eureka, California, or you'd contact that dude who you gathered all those burlap sacks for.

Whatever, dude!   :smt005
Who is this now? Kinda sounds like that AbKing dude but don’t know what ever happened to that guy.
Anyway, I’m in Patriick’s Point SP and can’t believe I have cell service.
Maybe I’ll check out that Shelter Cove place the OGs talk about. I hear it’s nice.

BTW, there are signs of witchcraft on the beach. They’re active this time of year.

File a claim as soon as they allow it. If the rods are expensive, chances are FedEx will magically "find" and deliver them. If not, they'll have to at least cover the declared value. The seller may have to file the claim since they shipped them.

Just go to a regular doctor for your vasectomy dude. Bite the bullet.

Seriously, though, did you get some livestock?

Hookups and Fishing Reports (Viewable by Public) / Re: Bolinas 9/11

Visibility was extremely difficult on the 11th. I stayed in SF Bay -- launched out of Berkeley and even with landmarks nearby, it was disorienting. Due to the conditions, I hugged the old pier as I knew other vessels would avoid it. One of my main concerns in conditions like that is not being seen by power boats. Keep in mind that not all of them are experienced pilots or even conscious of hitting smaller craft. Add that to getting lost yourself and it's a disaster waiting to happen.

+1 on this:
It’s a good reminder to assess the conditions as well as your own abilities before going out into the ocean. I would hope that people may see this and think to read through some safety type posts. But out of all the people being drawn to the sport I would guess that unlikely for most. Perhaps being an example for others and lending firsthand information to people we see making dangerous choices because they don’t know better would work. I try to do so as much as I can when I meet fellow kayak fishers.

Helpful advice: Don't do it!   :smt002 :smt004 :smt005
Just kidding. Welcome!
Sounds like you know that self rescue/re-entry is a necessary skill. If you can, practice in a reservoir/lake first. It's easier to start in flat water but a fairly calm beach is fine if you're ready to jump right in.

And this:
Welcome Oscar!  :smt006

Welcome.
I'll trade fishing info (for whatever that's worth!) for rock garden tutorials anytime.

Fantastic news, Sean.

Volunteered with World Central Kitchen in Santa Cruz Wednesday and Thursday to help make meals for fire personnel and evacuees. Several of the volunteers were evacuees themselves. https://wck.volunteerhub.com/lp/norcal-fires

Badass rescue.

Got news this morning that friends lost their home and 3 cabins on 4 acres in Brookdale (Santa Cruz Co.). Fortunately, all family members are safe.

General Fishing Tips / Re: Launching from Ocean Beach SF
« on: August 17, 2020, 11:50:27 AM »
Definitely wouldn't recommend launching from China beach/Baker beach as the currents are way too strong considering it's where the ocean meets the mouth of a huge bay/river.  The fleet out there were the PBers and party boats.

No doubt -- the current RIPS through there. And since some newb may attempt it, I'm not recommending any of it, Ocean Beach or otherwise!
