I use a cheap $70.00 bed extender from Harbor Freight to haul my Outback.  If you cinch both ends down it doesn't rattle and I haven't had any problems with it.  http://www.harborfreight.com/truck-bed-extender-69650.html

General Talk / Re: Mcovey cove fri april 14th night game

We launch from the little dock on the slough with all the funky old boathouses and park there at the meters on berry street under the 280 fwy next to the basketball courts. It is a good spot to tailgate and get primed but we also bring the tailgate bbq out on the water. I haven't fished there but theres gotta be something swimming around there. The game starts at 7 but I try to get there early to beat traffic and then we chill out for a while, talk baseball and fishing. We usually launch at least 1 hour before gametime and go poke around a bit first.

Right on..hope to see you out there!

Thanks KayakJack.  I'm working in Rohnert Park tommorrow and hoping to cut out early.  See you on the water!

We will be there. any questions call me at 707 478-5436

Hi Everyone.. this house-broken fisherman is still looking for a sponsor if anyone is looking to take in a stray.  Married for 22 years so I'm officially neutered.  I met some of you at the crabfest this year.  I'll be fishing with Diesel Days and looking forward to a great time!

Im gonna hit the cove Friday eve for the game against the rockies. Usual shenanigans, beer, bbq and bonfire. This is 1 of 2 games this season where the Giants will be doing a fireworks show from a barge after the game. Good time for sure. Come join me.

Hey Jack..where do you launch from?  3rd Street?  Can you tailgat in the parking lot there?

Any issue leaving the Outback on its wheels with a soft pillow under the nose?

General Talk / Giants home opener Monday - McCoveyCove
« on: April 06, 2017, 08:06:09 PM »
Well..since the rains muddied up the streams, its time to take a break from fishing.  If the weather is decent, some buddies and I are hitting McCovey Cove for the Giants home opener on Monday afternoon.  See ya there?

Good idea to get her a new Hobie Sport then commandere the 180 drive for your kayak...put your mirage drive in the Sport, then don't even tell her about it and she'll never know the difference!

Haha... you and I think alike!

General Talk / Hobie Mirage Drive 180
« on: April 06, 2017, 06:11:22 PM »
Anyone here picked up the new Mirage Drive 180 yet?  I'm curious what they think?  I'm in the market to pick up a kayak for my wife and I'm considering shelling out the big bucks for a new Hobie Sport so that we could interchange the drives between the two when she's not with me.  But if anyone has any other suggestions for a decent, sea-worthy and light paddle kayak, then I'd consider buying that then picking up the drive separately.  They go for about $800.00 so even if a kayak cost $750.00 new, its would be a good $700 cheaper than a new sport.  Any suggestions?
