I was just coming up when Mahi Mahi caught his first fish. If the one you hooked up the first one for the weigh -in, than this is the one. Congrates on the win!!!
First pic, the fight. Second the grand finale!!!!

Out of curiosity, how many fish were weighed in?

19...pretty mellow.  Nowhere near as many fish caught as BAM.

Rory-SWEET pics!

Congratulations Mahi!!.    Thanks NCKA, CSBA, and GWKC to a GREAT first event for Patrick and I. Guess I burned up my striper MoJo thursday and friday leaving nada for the tourney. My favorite part of the weekend was the saturday evening fishing with everyone, the conversations (mostly good natured ribbing) were priceless.

Congrats Mahi!

Unfortunately, on Saturday, I was out on the water at 6:30 and fished the whole time catching nada.   :smt009 Apparently I wasn't alone.  64 people registered and only 19 fish checked in, some had 2 fish...

To make my weekend even better, I go out at about 9:30 and meet up with the rest of the guys at Rock Point.  I'm trolling and hitting bottom.  All of a sudden I snagged... or thought I was snagged.  Long story short, it was a 32 1/8" striper weighing 9 lbs 14 oz!!!!  :fishing1

A day late and $350+ short!  :crybaby2:

Right after, the wind picked up so we all paddled across to Vinegar Point.   Trolling again and had a hit.  This thing was fighting hard!  I was excited hoping it'd be my small mouth I've been waiting for.  Rod was all bent, took me all over the place... only another striper.  He was so tired and excited, he milked all over me!!! This second guy was smaller but looked fatter and definitely fought harder.

Freddie hooked into a small mouth and a catfish but thats his story to tell.  =)

This was my first tourney too and I had lots of fun!  Thanks everyone!

I have no idea where I was looking at or what I was doing!!!

Congrats Dan!
FUN weekend, im still stuffed with food. Landed 3 stripers, weighed in 2, one went 30 inches and 8.7?, I think Sean said it went 6th place, same as my first derby there. Got some nice aoty points, a little feisty smallie just across from the launch...An 18.5 lmb, and a six inch upgrade on the striper.
And brought home about 5 pounds of clean, fresh striper fillet, with all the dark sh*t cut out!
FUN campfire jams!

Nice Victory Mahi, way to represent the hometurf. Congrats to Melissa too. Your striper may not have won but a personal best is still that.

Many thanks to Sean for another top notch derby.  :smt008

Had a blast fishing, camping, eating and talking story with the NCKA crew. There's simply NEVER a dull moment with these "get-togethers" I wish we could do these shindigs at least once every month for a life time :smt045 Thanks to all that participated! We need to support this great fishery so we can keep going back and more importantly, build more "good time memories"  :smt002

Congrats to Dan / Mahi Mahi = a well deserved win  :smt023

Some pics.....

*Apparently, Frank Fishing did catch some nice fish.....but did not get the memo regarding the fact that this was a striper derby :smt003

pic2: I had problems concentrating my efforts into catching fish as this cutie  :smt007 (and I'm not talking about the kayak :smt003) was flashing me with her gorgeous smile  :smt002....unfortunately for me, she's spoken for by some dude named "Savage"  :smt011
