Any thoughts on why I dont see a lot of hobies around the monterey bay?  Maybe it is just because I dont yet have my own kayak, so I am only seeing them from the shore, or in the harbor, or loaded on vehicles.

I also dont see used ones for sale in the SF bay area very frequently.  compared to areas in Florida where there seem to be a ton for sale (used).

What is it about this area?  Is it all in my head, or is it really a thing where there are less of them here than other brands.    And if there are less of them,  why do you think that is?  Just cost?  Seems like the bay area is a pretty affluent area, so while cost could certainly be a factor, I wouldnt think that would be a major limiter.  Perhaps hull design for offshore is suboptimal?  Maybe the mirage drive has more draw from the white sharks?  I am completely spit balling here,  I have no idea.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

When I go out at HMB I see mostly Hobies, and the last time I was there I had the only Kayak that wasn't a Hobie out of about 6.

I think it’s a combo of things.
Lots of rental yaks in this area.
Used Hobies sell fast.
It’s probably in your head.

In most cases, a Hobie is an ideal platform for fishing our area.

I fish Santa Cruz regularly in a Hobie, and I see lots of Hobies, but we’re all so far out (in more ways than one...) that you probably can’t see us from shore.

That's why we call him Nowhere Man.  He is often interdimensional. Schroedinger's Cast.

Sometimes I shout out "Now here man!"  spontaneously in my roadtrippin' travels and he is right there with me... :smt006

I'm hereby officially changing my screen name so that it pronounces "now here man". The spelling will remain unchanged.
