This is my new Mango Mini-X Yak rigged and fishing on a High Sierras lake, I had two trout on but none to the yak this trip, got there late due to road construction delay and wind came up after about 1.3 hrs on the water. I have a front rod holder installed for trolling and milk crate with Berkley 3 rod holder bolted in, I was trolling dodgers with wedding ring leader and half a nighcrawler, 1/2 oz barrel sinker above the dodger. Trick is keeping the dodger off the bottom but keeping the outfit close to the bottom where the fish are this time yr while paddling, might be a better idea to either jig or drift fish nightcrawlers in the yak. This outfit works great on the river for smallies. I just need to get a good gig going for the trout. Very happy with my Mini. No more racking on the roof, just toss in the back of my truck and go.

Awesome! I currently have my yak rigged similar for those trout.  These minis really are awesome little yaks.  I am heading up to lake shasta, and baum lake at the end of the month, hopefully it will provide some great results.

Nice rig you got there , was wondering as to installing a downrigger , looks like it may be in the way while paddling , not to mention trying to paddle and let DR down and reel out at the same time would be a pain. How deep do you figure you were getting using 1/2 oz. of weight ? I do a lots of lake fishing with a small dodger at   50-70 feet down , trying to avoid using a diver such as a pink lady .

By experimenting and trolling around 1 to 1.5 mph near the bank you can gauge depth the nightcrawler is at by scraping bottom once you shallow out too much, so I figure by this with fish finder we are at about 12 ft with 1/2 oz barrel and 16ft with 1 oz barrel sinker above the dodger. Seems to work fine, we got three limits last wed doing this from my gregor on the same reservoir. Not sure about downriggers on a kayak, hehe, seems kinda dicey to me, I have seen pics of em mounted to yaks on another fishing site recently. Too much going on all at once for me, paddling/fishing/downriggers. I like it simple.
