Sorry it's taken so long for me to weigh in on this topic.  Super busy week at work for me, keeping Santa Cruz safe for Democracy.

Yes, it's true, I will be working as a guide and campsite Major-Domo with Howard for these two trips this summer.  It is a plan we have had in mind ever since I met Howard in August of 2005.  I was on a family Alaska cruise, stopped in Ketchican.  Howard sent me out in one of his yaks for perhaps the most richly rewarding 1 1/2 hours of fishing I ever had.  Eight big rockfish in a row,,,bing-bing-bing.  Gotta move...... then, a pacific halibut, and finally 5 minutes later a leaping silver salmon.  All in about 1:15 of fishiing time, right outside of town.  After I released the Silver Salmon, I screamed to the sky "THANK YOU HOWARD!!!!"  Now I finally have the chance to get back there for an extended period of time to truly explore the wilderness fishing experience  Alaska can provide.

Needless to say, I am well beyond TOTALLY STOKED!!!!!!

(Special recognition at this time has to go to my wife Jessi, who urged me to take advantage of the opportunity, despite my nervousness in broaching the topic.  She is the best!!)

I can hardly imagine what the fishing is going to be like 30-40 miles into the wilderness where there is NO fishing pressure.  Ketchikan itself is a little town plopped into the middle of nowhere, and our trip will be going beyond nowhere!

Howard tells me this specific area is known for 100 lb + halibut. the timing is such there's an outside chance  an errant King Salmon swimming by, but the Silver season is in its peak at that time, according to the info on Howard's website.

My ideal group to work with would be comprised completely of NCKA anglers.  If you can plan on raising the scratch between now and then, and the WAF factor is in proper order, my suggestion is to sign up now for the trip of a lifetime.

Howard and I will be chating this weekend, so I can post more details for the Stoke Factor early next week.

In the meantime, if you havn't checked it already, take a look at the info on KKF website:

All for now

Thanks for the extra stoke, like I really need it.  I am trying to work this out and there is an outside chance that I will be able to make it work.  If the financial aspects work out as I hope, the WAF and time should follow OK.  Do you have any idea how fast this might fill up?  I am hoping that I will know more about my personal situation by mid February.  An all NCKA trip would be really great.
