I know this is going out on a limb here, but Laura and I are going to drive over Sat morning. Neither one of us have experience catching perch. Who wants to let us tag along? :smt008 We fished for perch at Crab Fest 2 years in a row and haven't caught anything! I'll swear on one of FM1's Coors lights I won't tell wear we are taken :smt005

Snapperhead,  I am going to help Bushy for a few in the morning then hit the beaches to fish.  You and Laura are welcome to tag along with me if you like.  My luck has been a bit rough lately though,  last few trips were pretty small fish.

Trying to sneak out tomorrow up around your area and do some scouting.   :smt001

Think I want to stay local in the santa cruz area for the derby this year so I can enjoy the festivities.

If I don't get a fish in contention.... I get lazy about driving from Monterey side to Santa cruz for the party.  :smt003

We caught some big fish lately at New Brighton (Potbelly), and Mary's.  Who knows if they'll be there tomorrow, or on Saturday.  Just sayin'

Good luck!!!

hopefully I will do some scouting Friday morning.  Last Friday I hit New Brighton and came up with nothing.  The other guy there was having the same luck.  Then on my way out,  there was a guy that I watched walk down, bait up and cast out.  By the time I closed the 200 yard gap between us he had a nice perch on.   :smt102

I usually pass the ship by and fish to the west (New Brighton) or the East (Rio Del Mar)  It's really all one big long beach.  If you start at Cement ship you can walk a mile or so up or downh all the way to Monterey (maybe swim the rivers and Moss Landing).

Night before the Derby I will post here spots I think will be happening according to latest local reports.  NCKA insiders....
