Hi Paddlers

Save the date....  Saturday, April 9, 2005...  Loch Lomond....

I'll be hosting the 3rd annual "Mother Of All Springtime Kayak Parties" at Loch Lomond on Saturday, April 9, 2005.    Loch Lomond Reservoir is considered by many to be the most amazing loch in the western hemisphere.  The park is laid out so that partiers in one grove aren't even aware that there are partiers in the next grove.  We'll put our boats in at the launch, paddle around to a nearby cove, try to take over the little island in the middle of the loch, have kayak games, throw a HUGE BBQ just like last year, etc.

Who: EVERYBODY!  Kayakers and nonkayakers alike.  Kayaks encouraged (but I'll loan my boats to those who don't have boats).  Fishing gear encouraged.  Kids encouraged.  Dogs encouraged (there's a $2 entry fee per dog, I think).  Appetities manditory.

What: The 3rd Annual Mother of All Kayak Parties.  I'll bring my entire fleet of 19 kayaks.  You bring BBQ and potluck food to pass.  We'll probably hold a raffle for Support Strokes for Breast Cancer, so bring a pocketful of cash for awesome prices.  (Bring raffle prizes to donate if you're so inclined).  Last year we raised $300 for Support Strokes.  Cool, huh?

When: Saturday, April 9, 2005. 6am-6pm.   Park opens at 6am, I think, and I'll be there around 6am to hold tables. Lunch around noon-ish, but food galore will be available all day so show up whenever.  Last year we had PILES of food, so don't worry about it....

Where:  Loch Lomond, Santa Cruz, near Felton:  http://www.ci.santa-cruz.ca.us/wt/llra/llra.html

Why: Because we like to CELEBRATE springtime by hanging out and kayaking with our buddies....

Check here for pictures of last year's event, and maps etc.

Last year's nametag lady told me that 118 people showed up last year.  We expect more this year because last year's event was on Easter and this year is 2 weeks after Easter.  Thus, more people will be available because they won't be tied up with Easter festivities.  Plus, I've hooked up with the Northern California Kayak Anglers who are going to be kayak-fishing like crazy.  Last year we ate some fresh-caught trout.  This year we hope to eat a LOT of fresh-caught trout!!!!

Please RSVP here asap so I can plan appropriately.

Hope to see you there!  Questions?   Let me know!

Looks like fun, here I was thinking it was going to be in the loch lomond marina in san rafael...

I can bring the wife and baby if there are other fishing spouses for her to hang with.

Abalone opens in april too, and I'm batting 100% on abalone but 0% on salmon.   Moss landing is only a hair closer than Ft ross...

I'll probably pop enough abalone and shoot enough lings the first weekend of april to tide me over the second one.  :smt003
