An app that applies physical discomfort when it senses you investing too much time or thought into fishing.......don't most people call that a wife.....about 50% of the users uninstall.   :smt001

My app is not too concerned about time, and not at all about thought, but generates great discomfort when it senses excess expenditure of money.
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

You do want to get it right, so over thinking early seems common, but I am still of victim of my own mental state of deciding on a purchase, getting opinions, figuring why I even want whatever item for whatever purpose, making mistakes, or being content, and gettin' over it...  :smt006

A lot of kayak fishermen have a tendency to overcomplicate things.

Yup.  Just get what other people have recommended.  Tigerstik and any acceptable reel.

I was short on extra money last year, and used my beat up 9' surf rod with a $20 walmart Optix 40 reel (loaded with the cheapest 30#mono) while kayaking.  Kept the reel lubed, and I caught a bunch of nice lings and cabbies just fine.  Didn't see a difference in the amount of fish hooked/landed when compared to a few others who I fished with, and I know they spent a lot more on their gear (and have lost way more $$$$ in gear from not having stuff properly tethered or strapped down).  Obviously this example is on the extreme cheap-o side, but I caught more than enough fish to eat, fill my freezer, and gift to friends, all with a setup that cost about $50.

That'll work.  Grease it up and rip some lips.
