Probably because they don't consider it a fishing boat.

Okay, your point is semi-valid for the AI, but a straight Adventure is not a kayak?  I beg to differ.

Even for the AI though, shame on Hobie for not recognizing the AI niche in the yak-fishing community.

The biggest thing, from an insiders point of view, is that this sport is evolving faster than the companies can redesign boats. It takes a long time from design, to concept, to molding the first boat, to production. I would say 6-12 months. From what I know as fact at Wildy they only work on one boat at a time. Some features carry over from boat to boat. But you still need to make new molds etc. Bass fishing and flats fishing is by far the biggest section of this sport. Maybe not on the west coast, but in the country as a whole. That is why Wildy just redesigned there Ride series. There may be something in the works in the future for other boats too.

It's not just the turn-around time from conception to production.  There is also something to say about "getting your money's worth" out of a mold.  You need to produce a certain amount of units from a particular mold before moving on.   I'm not saying this is the case for Hobie or even in this instance, but that is some of the realities of the manufacturing.

I am guessing this feature will be available to AIs and Adventures in the near future.  Hobie just focused on their top selling fishing line of kayaks first.

Hobies "new way to fish" campaign was centered on the AI wasn't it? So they do consider it a fishing kayak. As for not fitting a transducer well in it I would only assume it would come down to cost. How much is it going to cost vs how many units are sold. They added it to the quest series.
