Craig and Linelle,

Thanks so much for hosting such a fine event. Sorry I missed it this year but will make it next year. Was hoping you would get better WX but guess that is just part of the magic of Albion.

Thanks Craig!

Memorable Highlights:

Tote's open bar every night.
Diving with Tote and Harry on Thursday.
Farmers Market in Mendocino on Friday with Family.
Slow fishing on Saturday, but 3 NCKA swimmers created some excitement.  I nominate Batt the official Lifeguard of NCKA.  Humbled by some huge stringers at the fish cleaning station.  Salty insulted my Cab by questioning if it was legal.  Got spayed by the hose twice while cleaning my small fish.

CaptainMorgan's Patron, AgaveNector, Lime margaritas on the rocks.
Insane's fried cheesecake.
Fish-n-Brews prosciutto wrapped Mellon with balsamic.
TigerFish's prosciutto wrapped wahoo.
O2B's salmon spread.
Too many to list...

CaptainMorgan's hot streak in the raffle.

Awesome potluck, raffle and award ceremonies.  Craig loves giving stuff away and it shows.  AbChild was delighted with a caught hat and lure.

The contagious enthusiasm, joy and excitement throughout the entire weekend!

What will be the date for next years event?

Not to forget Jedmo Nation....In-freakin'-credible!!!!!!!!!
Nothing like it.
Thank you everyone for your hospitability and charity.
Seven days at Albion went by like a flash.
I'm already chomping at the bit for next years date.
This is going to be hard to top.

I didn't get the full experience of the Albion festivities, missed out on Tote's bar, snores from the next tent keeping me awake, and dropping quarters for a broken shower. Our anniversary meant I had to suffer through a room at Seaside Cottages in Mendocino with a great view of the headlands, jacuzzi, and steak dinner at The Little River Inn.......dam, I miss camping!!! :smt044 Bank account took a hit, but, WAF account received bonus deposit :smt001 Turns out a big part of that WAF bonus was the pot-luck (she loved the Thai peanut sauce chicken and a lot more).
Launched about 6:30 with no previous salt kayak experience. Heard it was pretty snotty and saw several already heading in "green in the gills".  I figured I'd keep my focus on the conditions around me more so than the fishing and stick close to the crowds and count on safety in numbers. My goal; don't chum and don't fall out of the boat. Surprisingly, it took just a short time to feel pretty comfortable and I ended up spending my time watching different guy's techniques and shooting a few pics.

A little fish porn for those who missed out;

Awesome Tote...they were spouting all over the place...How close were you able to get???

At first I thought there were some seals cruising by.
The sound of a marine mammal breathing as it breaks the surface sounded like a seal or two but I didn't see anything.
It got louder, still no sight ot them. Then even louder and I thought maybe they were scoping me out; still no sight.
Then I heard it REALLY loud. I was facing south parallel to the shoreline. I quickly turned and saw it at my 3:00.
I could have casted and hit it. Amazing creature. Not very big, by whale standards that is.
It took me a while to dig out the camera. The vid is of just one whale.
During the tourney when El Dorado was in the drink and, like everyone else, I was trying to get a fix on his location, I yelled 'OH $HIT!
Racin Rob asked me what was going on...I said nothing...but a whale had just surfaced about 50 yds from us.
Crappy seas, fog, a brother screaming HELP on the radio then a whale briefly shows itself that close; what else was there to say? :smt044

This was my first time at the famous Albion Open and definately won't be my last.  Thanks to Craig and the organizers for doing the hard work to make this event so enjoyable for everyone who attended.  Everyone I have met were very nice and friendly.  NCKA members ROCK!...Good People.

Fishing Report:
I had my video camera rolling when I caught that Salmon, but the Wide angle lens that I had on my playsport camera seemed to fog up for some reason.  The audio is good though.
Thanks to whoever called out for the Salmon report at the beginning of part 1; it got my wheels turning to try for Salmon.  I broke the footage down to two parts, so it wouldn't be one long view before the good stuff.  There was about a 12 minute gap between the two segments (to get hooked up).  I won't give a play by play.  I think the video speaks for itself.
