Will probably drill some holes near bottom rod holder assembly near  scuppers for drainage. They are loose fitting so should be fine.

I think you need to install a couple round hatches to install that rod holder. :smt044

I've thought about doing something like that so I can ditch the Plano box, but has been afraid of potential damage to scupper hole. Even though my scuppers have reinforcement sleeves, I'm worried about wipeouts and such that can possibly damage them when enough force is applied.

If a beach Landing looked that rough I always lower my fishing poles to the side of my kayak and have even removed reels. Doesn't tAke long to cut a line and remove. With that, the rod holders would only be a couple  inches above Hull . Rod holder can also be easily removed

YAY YA !  I've seen a few nice ones out there. Tired of having them to the side of me in the back and tangling up when you get to close to someone . Much better vertically up and behind.

Do you guys often use those multi-rod holders for trolling or exclusively rod storage while pedaling around?

Nice work!

I'm still rockin' the same milk crate with rod/net/gaff/whacker holders that I've been using every time on the water since 2002.

It was real simple to make... just cut four ~1 foot long pieces of 1.5" diameter PVC pipe and attach them vertically in the four corners of the milk crate using heavy duty zip ties. It sits in the back of my Outback and gets held down with the tank well bungees.

(When I'm salmon trolling - like I am in the pic below - I keep my big ass net in the flush mount rod holder where it's easier to grab in a hurry.)

I know some guys who have the trolling holder built into the rod storage but I mainly use mine to store the rods between use.

I like this style, but I'd need to buy a few more toys if I had extra space  :smt044
