I was talking to Captain/owner John last year on our 3-day trip and even though he denied it, you could tell that he was kind of over the whole kayak mothership thing. I'm wondering if it's because Shane was bought out and Jason bailed, so now John is left as the main captain for all these trips.

Im sure that's part of it, at least concerning Jason.  He bailed right before our trip also......

And Sansano and I might join you on a long-range trip.  Never done that yet.

I would consider the Excel trip. The Royal Polaris trip is too close to my annual trip in July. It's also more fun when you know someone on the boat.

OK, first - thanks bushy and Jason for trying to get a mothership trip out of the harbor this year.

Second - a Royal Polaris trip is something I have had on my bucket list for years. Maybe this IS the year?

Third - I've been reading (books on tape checked out from the local library) some of Clive Cussler's Oregon series (fiction). The Oregon is a fictitious tramp freighter, which is disguising a very modern destroyer platform under its apparently decaying outer personage. It allows the Oregon a disguise to enter various ports o' call around the globe relatively unnoticed. One of the "features" of the Oregon is a "moon pool" which ejects divers (in small teams) using inflatables, launching from within the hold, out a side door at the waterline from the main hull. It comes to mind that a tender with this capability would be a perfect platform for island trips for launching and retrieving kayaks . Any body got one?

Okay, now I'm confused , are there any trips this year ? or just talk ?, I got the green light to go to Alaska for my 60th B-day this summer but I saw a tear in her eye that she would not be going. So I told her I would do a southern trip this year and take her to Alaska next year for our 30th anniversary.  HELP....😨

Dude, great find...but I was thinking of something more like an obsolete destroyer tender like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Shenandoah_(AD-44)

...just some Co2

Yeh, with either of these choices(?), it would take a pretty hard knock to chip the paint with a piece of Tupper ware tethered to the side. At least with most of these bigger boats, the births and galley would probably(?) be a bit more comfortable, not sure about a British boat however?

I'm of the opinion that it's a pretty poor marine finish that is wrecked by plastic kayaks.  :smt012

We have decided not to run Islander trips this year.  The price increase was just too much.
